The beautiful smallest city in England holds a bustling market on Wednesdays and Saturdays each week. Always busy with wonderful food stalls from olives to veg. Bread to pies. From clothes to china. Sometimes you maybe lucky to hear the Town Cryer announcing an interesting...More

This has to be the best market I have been to in the UK. It is similar to the really good markets you get in France.

Although Wells is a city this a typical country town market place, we went on a Wednesday which was market day, the city was buzzing. Recommended.

At atime when so many small towns have lost their markets this was a delight. All the stalls were in use, plenty of people browsing and a huge variety of products for sale - some very high quality products and a great many food and...More

Great old town to walk around and take in either the market which is on twice a week with various locally sourced produce or to see the impressive Wells Cathedral and grounds. Easy to park at the bus station, and walk through the lane to...More

Small but perfectly formed. Relies heavily on craft items, which make it different from the normal mass produced market stuff found in other places. It’s a weird mix but all the better for it. The food stalls are amazing with all sorts of produce. I...More

What a gem, the stalls in the market square had so much variety of things to see and buy. We bought a South African gin, what a find. Vegetables were fantastic, shame we were on holiday would of loved to have taken some home

An important feature of a visit to Wells. It was lovely to walk among the stalls, listening to the town crier & enjoying what seemed like going back in time. Great local produce, local crafts people’s work, appetising smells, just a super experience.

Every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm although some fresh food stalls start closing about 1:00pm. Parking is at a premium on market days.
