Run by a private trust in building given by the cathedral way back. I really enjoyed my visit. I had long talks with the friendly staff on both occasions. The building is fascinating and I would have appreciated more information about it as part of...More

Enthusiastic staff who were very knowledgable. A broad range of exhibits that reflected the rich modern history of Somerset and the people of Wells. Each room was very well laid out. The WW1 exhibits were excellent. The collection of Samplers is remarkable. The cave exploration...More

This is not vast but had some interesting exhibits with a local flavour e.g. a recreation of a Mendip cave, a tribute & exhibition about, to the last Tommy, Harry Patch as well as cathedral artefacts. At £3 to get in, very good value.

A unique opportunity to see behind the scenes at the Museum was part of the Wells Civic Society evening held in the Summer.

Its just a small museum but some really interesting exhibitions. The Wookey Hole section and the library are well worth lingering in.

This is good for all, but especially those interested in local history of an historic area. It will surely be better still once the WW1 exhibition is over.
