We discovered this by chance and were delighted with the tour. The guide was helpful and informative and covered the whole range of uses of the building, from a theatre to a church and on to a Masonic Hall. Well worth a visit.

Loved every minute of this tour, not only for the history of the Theatre but to look around the Masonic lodge, this is one of the best I have seen and I have looked around many on my travels . Many thanks to our guide who really knew his job. The museum has one of the best collection of Past... More

Yes, freemasonary is the 2nd largest independent charitable donator behind the national lottery, all funds donated by the Freemasons themselves, this is just one of the facts I learnt from this very friendly, honest and informative talk by our excellent guide, all questions answered truthfully and honestly there are no secrets on this tour. The history of freemasonry in this old... More

This building was formally a theatre, then a Catholic Church and is now a Masonic Lodge. We were shown around by Roger who was extremely knowledgable and as we were the only ones on the tour that day gave us the VIP treatment. He showed us the rooms upstairs and the Masonic Museum downstairs which was fascinating. You could easily... More

I read reviews on here prior to visiting the Old Orchard Street Theatre. I visited the Tourist Information Centre the night before to book my ticket on the tour the following morning, as for whatever reason the website itself was not allowing on-line bookings to be taken. The guide was very informative and knowledgeable. The group was small - just... More

This was one of those places that you could so easily put on your list to maybe see later or put off to another day, but dont! This was the real surprise of out trip to Bath, and great 90 minutes or so and a real eye opener as to how the Masons really operate and why. The tour guide... More

This Museum can only be seen with a guide – our guide was just a fountain of knowledge and was amazing. He told the history of the place when it was the Theatre Royal in Bath. There isn’t much evidence of its theatrical past now as the Bath Masonic Lodge now own and occupy the building. Our guide was a... More

My husband and I spent an excellent 1.5 hours here. The guide was fantastically knowledgeable about the old theatre and the history of freemasonry. There are not many tours each week and to maintain the costs of the building it is used as a venue for festivals in Bath so you may need to plan your visit. Well worth planning... More

What a wonderful afternoon we had at this special place. For a Freemason, it is unbelievable, with history dating back to 1732. Roger, our guide, explained all stages of the history of this beautiful theatre, which from outside, is plain and uninspiring. My wife was enthralled, particularly at what she learned further about Freemasonry.
