We visited here whilst staying in the Bath/Bristol area, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The wife is very interested in history, social history and fashion, but I am not however there was enough to keep me interested and would recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Wandered through this great little museum. Fascinating collection going from the 1700s to virtually today. Lots of interesting facts and social/political context too. And did you know that it was only in the 1800s that women's shoes were made with a left and a right? Before then they were the same. Had no-one spotted that feet were different before then?... More

I loved looking at the clothes and learning about when they were worn. A great place to come if you are interested in both history and fashion.

It was a small collection museum, but the garments were incredible examples of the eras they were from. This is located below the Bath assembly rooms and worth seeing, however the ticket cost is a bit high considering how small the collection is. If you are going to see the Roman Baths also you can get a combined ticket that... More

A small but worthwhile attraction towards the top of the town, bit of a walk to get there but the exhibits were excellent. We bought the combined ticket with the Roman Baths and this kept the costs down.

The museum is in the basement of the Georgian era Assembly Rooms and that's good for the collection you are about to see. Why? Because when you enter the stately building and encounter the late 18th century decor, you quickly realize that you're moving into a time warp and it's all so charming, you're willing to let it happen. In... More

It was really interesting to see how the styles changed through time. The explanations were clear for a novice like myself. I did not feel the clothing examples for the last 5 years fitted within this collection as they are extreme catwalk designs rather than the clothing style worn by the wealthy as shown by the rest of the display.... never seen so much about fashion all together. It's really inspiring and instructive. all the pieces are showed in a timeline path with makes a lot easier to understand the fashion changes over the time. It's an option to go in the morning if you have a coach back home in the early evening

An comprehensive range of customs well presented with in the cases. Disable friendly attraction which we had to access via lift. I think if it was very busy it would not be so easy to see the clothes. We had a group of visitors which kept standing in front of us it was not a problem as there were not... More

Definitely worth doing with the combo ticket with the Roman Baths. A relatively small but beautifully curated collection, focussing on the 18-19 centuries.
