Monday visit reasonably quiet - believe the Sunday before was extremely busy due to the lovely sunny weather. We arrived at the house just as a guide had began. Not a huge group of people we asked if we could tag on the lady guide...More

Enjoyed an incredible tour on the Italian 'Grand Tour' connections to the house with incredibly enthusiastic volunteer guide Ian today. He was fascinating to listen to for an hour, we felt like we were in a history TV program at times. Also enjoyed seeing the...More

Lovely NT property still with some work in progress. A substantial property and great history of the Berwick family. We did the trip on a Friday and there were no guided tours but there were plenty of helpful volunteers to ensure you get the most...More

This has to be one of the best National Trust properties. It has a fascinating history of riches to rags and back to riches again. We visited on a Wednesday when the room guides dress in period costume which adds to the atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended.
