Ludlow Castle is an unusually complete range of medieval buildings with a varied history evident within its walls. We are host to a number of events that run between April and November, information of which is available at the local tourist information centre and on our website.

Castle House was one of the last grand mansions built in Ludlow. It was sympathetically restored in 2006 by the current Earl of Powis and provides a range of Independent shops, Tea Rooms with an idyllic outside terrace during the summer months; function rooms that are available for civil ceremonies, weddings, parties, wakes, meetings

The 3 no. self catering apartments are available for 3, 4 and 7 night stays. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, well equipped kitchens and sitting/dining rooms and views of the castle that are unparalleled.

The Tea Room is a traditional English tea room with a glazed Courtyard, Pantry, Study and Garden Terrace. It is child and dog friendly with a welcoming and enthusiastic team, serving something for everyone. There are loose-leaf teas, cafeteria coffees, fresh juices and quality wines. A range of freshly prepared cakes and cream teas are available all day.

There is a lovely walk around the outside of the castle where you are surrounded by natural woodland and outstanding views of the castle walls, River Teme and Whitcliffe Common.

My first visit was forty-five years ago to see a production of King Lear in the grounds. Part of my A Level English Literature. I remember the whole stage "catching fire" at one point a stunning special effect (you could not reproduce in a regular theatre!). It was many years before I visited again for a vintage car rally and... More

We enjoyed our visit to Ludlow castle. History explained on boards throughout the site, and 2 booklets available - 50p version great to review with kids during visit. £3.50 version has lots more information about the history and can be used whilst there but good to read more after visit. Lots of small stairways to explore different parts of the... More

Nice small castle with great information as you walk around, could do with money being spent on it or national trust getting involved, lovely views from the top if you can manage the winding stairs.

Thank you for your review. We spend about a third of the income a year on the castle, but as you can imagine its like the forth road bridge. The next phase of works starts this autumn where we are repairing the currently closed north west tower. We hope to see you again soon More

Took our son (7) for a visit and he loved exploring all the hidden stairs and dark corners of these ruins. Cafe looked lovely, although we didn't visit. Lots of space for kids to play and great place for a picnic. Good value for money we thought

Although similar to many other castles, I loved that here you can get all the way to the top of the towers, giving you fantastic views of the Weir and surrounding area. They do a quiz for kid too, although my partner got too engrossed in his (he's a kid at heart!) and his his head on one of the... More

Until visiting, we had no idea that Ludlow - and primarily the castle - had been so pivotal in English history. Did Arthur consummate his marriage there? Wales ruled for 200 years from there. The audio tour is a little hammy, but incredibly informative

Pleased you enjoyed your visit. The audio uses real actors so yes, hammy is a good description but good fun. We hope to see you again soon More

Ludlow Castle is beautifully maintained, giving a great insight into some important history of this part of the country. It was great exploring the rooms and it was very reasonably priced. Of the many highlights on our visit were the views from the top of the tower. We took some great photographs and video at the venue. I think it... More

We went woth our young daughter of five and she had no issues with the stairs. I was captivated by all the fireplaces and imagining how he layout of the castle would have been. Yet another monument ruined by the greedy idiot Cromwell.

Hubby and I love it there! The gorgeous castle, built by Walter de Lacy 1066-85 is awesome and in a glorious location! Well worth a visit! 10/10 and 5 stars.

Thank you for your review. So pleased you enjoyed it. Ludlow is a real gem of a town with the best castle around (may be a bit biased there)! We hope to see you again soon.
