We stayed at the Hamilton Hilton and had a walk into the city which was not very far away, I made a comment to my husband what a pretty square it was and noted the name, although there seemed to be many solicitors in the square. Its quite a steep climb and keeps you fit. we went up and down... More

This is just a square surrounded by brick buildings which are not particularly architecturally pleasing. In years gone by just about all the properties were occupied by companies of solicitors. I have no idea how the word Paradise became associated with this area, as it's definitely not my vision of Paradise, far from it.

Sorry Andrew D but this is no where near 'the most beautiful square in the planet'. However, Paradise Square and the side streets around the cathedral (don't forget that there is also the 19th century Catholic cathedral St. Marie's, close to the Crucible) are well worth exploring to get a little of the atmosphere of Sheffield's past.

Located just off the city centre behind the cathedral a place you would tend to miss unless you were going to a solicitors office its a bit like blink and you miss it still has some of the antique cobbles down

I enjoy a walk though as its a peaceful reminder of a gentle past. I love the buildings and the history. However it is just now a square used as a car park (including the pavements), unless using wig & pen nowhere to sit.

Beautiful cobbled square, full of solicitors offices. Rumoured to be haunted..... we went there as part of Sheffield spooky walks, very historical area of town.

A nice square, but that's all it is. Hidden away near the center of town. Could be something to see if looking around center

There's a lot to Paradise Square it's not just a cobbled slope. For instance Queen Victoria's midwife, who was there at her birth (if you can call a male doctor a midwife) had his practice at the bottom end of Paradise Sq, there's a plaque. Also Wesley preached here to the biggest crowds he'd ever had, Sheffield was about the... More

Actually this square is amazing. it's a shame it isn't a bit more exciting for visitors. No pavement cafes, no street markets, just car parking. This place sums Sheffield up. Lack of imagination in a fantastic space.
