Stopped in for a look at a newer college of Oxford (1968) and particularly the hall, as part of our explorations of 1001 Buildings you must see before you die. We got there via the small walkways and towpaths around the area, and were helped...More

Very central place to stay, clean and tidy rooms and a good breakfast. And all for a reasonable price. What more could you want?

I guess they had enough old medieval buildings, this is the newest college in Oxford, supposedly a statement in modern design. It's so poorly designed that the parking lot is the center of the lefthand quad, and it is almost impossible to get through to...More

Breakfast can be mixed: some days you can enjoy succulent strawberry yogurts with an english breakfast of juicy mushrooms, crispy hash browns and and eye-watering sausages, yet sometimes I am left disappointed: the displayed yogurts are not up to scratch, the mushrooms watery, and the...More

St Catherine's (St Catz) was built in the 1960s. To some it is a typical 1960s style building however to architecture students will recognise its striking buildings in glass and concrete to have been created by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. It is now a listed...More
