Perhaps it's not surprising that one of the most famous alumni of St. John's, Oxford's richest college, is former Prime Minister Tony Blair. And in common with Blair there's a Catholic connection as the college was founded in 1555 to produce clerics at the vanguard...More

Another beautiful Oxford college. Just stumbled on this today when walking down St Giles Street. A stunning courtyard with manicured grass and beautiful buildings. Make sure you check for opening times as it's not open all day.

The wealthiest college in Oxford due to their extensive land holdings and consequent ground rent income, this college has particularly beautiful and peaceful gardens and grounds. Make sure you see the Canterbury quad with its lovely Italian Renaissance style architecture.

Fantastic architecture and beautiful gardens- highly recommended. The porters are very helpful indeed. Make sure you visit the Lamb and Flag pub which is owned by St John's.

Very hard to set one of Oxford university's wonderful colleges above another, but if you can only manage to visit one, St John's is probably the one to choose. It is open more generously than most, and is free too . . . has all...More
