We brought our American visitors here to show them what an Oxford University college looks like, and going back to 1273, they were very impressed. The college is small, and it's possible to see all of it in under an hour, if you are in...More

We visited this college during a walking tour of Oxford and found it to be both beautiful and interesting. Be sure to take a look at the dining room if possible.

Balliol charges £3 entrance fee, £1 concessions. For this you should be able to see the chapel, hall, quad and gardens. As with all colleges, some of these may be closed at any time. I visited free with Oxford Open Doors and fortunately all of...More

Went here on the open day. Was very well organised and the girl who showed us round clearly loves her college. This is a beautiful place and anyone lucky enough to study here is very fortunate

Very interesting college but not as good as some of the others. Worth a look round though to get the orientation of colleges within Oxford.

The beautiful gardens and elegant buildings are a pleasure to stroll around. The statue in the garden commemorating the (eventual) admission of women to the college is worth checking out.

Balliol is one of the oldest colleges, beautiful buildings with a well kept garden. Really worth a visit!

It is hard to rate this because the chapel was closed when I was there. This was included in the Oxford Walking Tour, and our guide showed us the gardens and the dining hall. It was a good experience and a beautiful college.

My partner was born and lived in New Abbey, Scotland - where the founder of this College settled with his wife. He knew of John Balliol's existence but we hadn't realised that it was he who was a benefactor of this College - so it...More
