We went up the tower to see the amazing views of the city. The last part of the climb up was a spiral narrow stairway (not suitable for people with heart problems) but when you get to the top you can go right round the...More

This is a lovely church located on High Street. With an eccentric Baroque porch and a spire claimed by some church historians to be the most beautiful in England, this is a church worth a visit. Entrance to the church is free and for a...More

This lovely church is next to Radcliffe Camera. We paid for the climb to the top of the tower and had a beautiful view all over Oxford. It has a small café which we did not use. Well worth the small fee and not to...More

While wandering through the University grounds just past the Bodleian library we came upon the cafe at St. Mary the Virgin. While sitting in the sun we had a pot of tea, scones with clotted cream and blackberry jam...mmmmm a lovely break in the day.

Ancient building with a long and interesting history. Went there on our guided tour (and came back later). Free entrance, a side building also houses a bar/restaurant.

There are numerous information boards around the church to keep the visitor all informed of its history. There are excellent views from the top of the tower of you are prepared for a steep climb.

We visited on a quiet week-day morning, and had the views all to ourselves for several minutes. Well-worth doing on a sunny day.

We enjoyed the view across the rooftops, and the staircase climb is singular and narrow. It is a squeeze in the viewing area with just a few people.
