About
The world-famous Bodleian Libraries is a must-see cultural destination in the heart of Oxford. The Bodleian Library was founded by Sir Thomas Bodley and officially opened in 1602. Since then the Bodleian libraries has grown to be the largest academic library system in the UK. In its reading rooms generations of famous scholars have studied through the ages, amongst them monarchs, Nobel Prize winners, British Prime Ministers and writers including Oscar Wilde, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. At the site, you can explore historic spaces that you might recognise from popular films and TV series such as Harry Potter and A Discovery of Witches. We also offer free, inspiring exhibitions featuring the libraries’ rich collections, two unique gift shops and a lovely café.

although the tour was more of the city walking, it was organised from the bodleian library. felicity is the most amazing guide for the day. i guess i was lucky to be the only guest on that time slot. she was very knowledgeable and is very warm and welcoming of questions about the places that we have walked through. i would definitely recommend this city walking tour.

I only had time for a 30 minute tour through the library. I wish I had time for more. The lovely guide Jessica is the best. Beautiful library with so much history.

One of the must visits in Oxford - free to enter and easy to find close to the centre. Definitely worth a quick visit even if you don't want to look at lots of books.

We had an amazing one hour tour of the Bodleian today with our fantastic guide, Jessica. Jessica made our tour so interesting with her depth of knowledge and lots of different stories. Her passion for the history of this incredible building is easy to see. If you are in Oxford I highly recommend you take this tour and hopefully you will get Jessica to be your guide too. Thank you Jessica.

We had a wonderful walking tour with our guide Dave. He was very knowledgeable, witty and funny we had a lot of laughs. This was my third visit to Oxford and honestly I was getting a little bored before the tour and now he made me want to go back again to explore even more! Thank you very much.

My wife and I did the 60 min tour with Ian today which was fantastic. it was just us two and he was very engaging and generous with his knowledge and time.

Embarrassingingly we don't carry cash these days so ran to an ATM to try and get back to tip for the outstanding tour but Ian had left by then - thanks again for the fantastic tour and sorry we missed you if you read this Ian (Julian and Mia from Newcastle upon Tyne).

My daughter and I did the 30mins tour of the Bodleian library, Oxford. This included Duke Humfreys library. Our tour guide was Sasha. She was extremely good and very informative. A lovely young lady who had time for questions.
I would highly recommend a tour.
