We took a 40 minute boat trip from Oxford on the Constantia and really enjoyed the relaxing ride, beautiful views, friendly helpful staff at Salter's Steamers and interesting history and tour on the journey. Good value too. Members of the group ranged from age 4 to 74.

As a party of 12 we recently hired the Constantia for a private river party cruise along the Thames, past Port Media and back past all the university boathouses. The circa 3 hour trip included buffet food and drink (both of good quality), and involved negotiating a couple of locks. Our guide was very affable, and reasonably knowledgeable of the... More

There are two companies offering Oxford river cruises. Salter's is not the one offering a combo with a bus tour but it is better value for money on two counts: it's cheaper than the competition and lasts 10 minutes longer. The staff are jovial and give a good commentary. Their boat has a water level inside area and, unlike their... More

I'm with a student association and we took a big group of freshers out on a private charter for an afternoon on the Thames. It was a perfect introduction to Oxford and the boat was a good space for mingling and relaxing. The crew, led by skipper Daniel, was friendly and accommodating and helped to make it a memorable afternoon.

Salter's Steamers could not have done more to make an evening's celebration on the river as special as it was. They were incredibly helpful in booking a private charter, the Edwardian cruiser was superbly set up for our party of 9, our skipper was friendly and knowledgable and the drinks provision was plentiful and good value. We all had a... More

There's so much to see and do in Oxford that it's easy to miss this gem, especially if you're short on time. Salter's river cruise from Oxford to Abingdon leaves from Folly Bridge and takes just under two hours. This scenic stretch of the river is peaceful, filled with boaters, ducks, narrow houseboats and flowers. The boat passes through three... More

...on the river. Salter's do a range of river trips and we have done several of them. Can't recommed them too highly. They have an excellent personal touch and have been helpful when circumstances prevented the odd trip from running. Our one piece of advice would be to phone them before you set off the rendezvous point. Just in case.... More

Transport of our wedding party from Folly Bridge to Iffley where the reception was taking place. About 1 hour on the water. A large boat with a covered front deck, an upper deck and an inner saloon with mini bar and typical boat toilet facilities. Very helpful and friendly crew. Excellent music. Can get a bit chilly and toward the... More

Leaving from the Folly bridge on our 45 minute excursion we headed down stream toward the Iffley Lock. Past the historic university boat houses, Christ Church meadow and down to the lock where we turned around and came back up stream. Our guide / boat operator was very knowable about the area and the history of the river. A worthwhile... More

Went on a picnic lunch your today. Weather was perfect which obviously helps, but the actual trip was amazing. The guy who gave the tour was easy to listen to, and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend the picnic lunch. £30 for lunch and just over 2.5hrs on the boat. 10/10
