Plenty of walking space
Nov 2020 • Couples
It's often difficult to squeeze into the small free car park but there is a university pay car park just alongside.

It's a good place for fresh air and exercise. A walk round the lake is a tonic in these restricted times. Most of the park is quite open and spacious, there's just a small stretch of the path on the University side of the lake that is narrow.

We did notice that the cafe is doing takeaway and, for the first time, the toilets were open.

There's a new planting and seating area under construction near to the paddling pool area.

A tranquil place for a leisurely walk around the lake.
Sep 2020
After dropping our son to start his Masters degree at Nottingham University we took the Lakeside Walk around Highfields Park. This park with it's Grade II listed features dates back to 1920. It is a tranquil place to walk with pleasant views across the boating lake to the Trent Building on the University Campus. There is plenty of flora and fauna including the pretty Egyptian Geese. There are two Chinese stone lion sculptures presented to Nottingham by the city of Ningbo, China. Boats can be rented to row on the lake and there are places to get refreshments. It really is a very pleasant place to take a walk and there are park benches as you walk the lake to rest on and admire the views. With our son due to be at Nottingham University for the next 4 years I images we'll be visiting this lovely park many more times.

No toilets!
Aug 2020
We visited today with our two grandchildren. They enjoyed the mini golf and playing on the playground. It was a nice sunny day and the park got very busy. The cafe is still closed. Sadly there are no toilets anywhere so where people are going I do not know! We had to leave as the children needed the toilet. I do think the park should have better facilities now it is open.

Boats and kicking things

Enjoyed the boating and mini golf courses. Staff were helpful. Weather drizzly (that's Britain for you!). Open the toilets!

Beautiful big park with lots to do
Jul 2020 • Family
Beautiful big park with lots to do. You have the lake, the adventure golf course and a kiddies play area. Very big and had a lot of groups but with enough space between everyone. Lots of dog walkers and cyclists. An ice cream van was parked there too. Next to the University of Nottingham. If you go on a busy day like we did, parking may be an issue. I definitely recommend this park.

Rhododendrons a real treat
May 2020 • Couples
We're starting to venture out a little further now for our exercise. Highfield Park is a great open space to wander around. It's always good to walk round the lake.

At this time of year there's a special treat and that's the rhododendrons in flower. Give it a go, it's a big enough park to be at a safe distance from other people.

Very grand campus indeed set in lovely parklands to walk around with a boating lake and cafe. Nice place to wander around for a while and grab a cuppa.

A really eye catching campus, the grounds and boating on the water, or just playing games/walking. Really serene.
