If you're looking for a watering hole on the gorgeous Tissington Trail then I can heartily recommend the Tissington Snack Kiosk. Don’t be fooled, this is not your average snack kiosk. We stumbled across this place a few weeks ago, and whilst it’s true that this bean-to-cup oasis on a gravel trail serves a variety of terrific snacks and drinks (and yes, it’s all true about the plum tart) there is so much more available. Firstly, there’s Andy the all-singing, all-dancing café aficionado, capable of directions, the latest local gossip, discussion of world events (but for your own sanity avoid Justin Trudeau, or lorry drivers), good humour and so much more. So, you can stuff your face, discuss world events or even discover the delights of kitchen design (again, examine your sanity before proceeding). I can't think what more one could ask for, really.

Called in today with a large group of cyclists and had no hesitation at all in suggesting that we stop here for our morning coffee. The owner is always friendly and interested in what individual customers are doing. He has a wide range of treats to tempt his customers with but they are all really tasty and we were easily tempted. It really is one of the hidden gems of the Peak District and a real god-send for those using the trail who do not feel inclined to deviate into the village itself. He also has facilities to pay by card with no minimum spend limit as far as I could see. Well done to all involved with it.

What could be more enjoyable than riding this trail. We have rode it a few times now, one last year on a very hot day. Never get bored of it. Lovely toads on the path crossing to the other side the last time we went

. We also love the start of High Peak at Middleton Top and can now get up the Hopton Incline. Just brilliant getting away from the traffic and everyone very polite on the trail.

Hired bikes at the Uber friendly Parsley Hay shop. We ended up doing a 20 mile 'round trip Parsley Hay to Tissington but you can do less or more as it suits. There were refreshments at Parsley Hay and Tissington (also at Ashbourne but we didn't get that far). Be aware that Parsley Hay to Ashbourne is mostly downhill so coming back is slightly uphill so allow half as much again for the timings. we went on a weekday and it was beautifully peaceful and not at all crowded. Awesome scenery on the trail and the village of Tissington well worth a look.

The old railway track has been converted into a well-graded cycle route, popular with walkers as well. Gentle climbing up from Ashbourne, past old stations, and with a good visitor centre at Parsley Hay and refreshments in other places.

A nice walk with great views over the moors and dales of Derbyshire and Staffordshire border. I got a bus to near Hartington and walked to Ashbourne, about 14 miles. There was a little cafe on the trail at Tissington and when you get to Ashbourne you can go through the old tunnel to the town centre. There are buses from Ashbourne either back to Buxton or to Uttoxeter where you can pick up a train to Stoke.

Very good place for family time. You can walk around 2 miles to reach southern part of Peak District. Minus is small amount of tables on the way for children to have a break.

We parked at the Tissington car park which has a pay and display machine, cafe and toilets. Tissington is a lovely village worth exploring. We did a circular walk across the fields and then back using the trail. It would be great if you take a bike. There is cycle hire in Ashbourne.

Lovely walking, beautiful countryside. The only downside is being forced onto the grass every so often by aggressive cyclists who show no sign of slowing down or having any form of manners. Those few bad cyclists ruin it for everyone.

Enjoyed the drive from Dovedale to Tissington, it was what I had seen in books and pictures- amazingly beautiful, visited the church, wishing well, and had cream tea at the lovely place right across the church.
