Have been to this fantastic shoe collection many times, but yesterday I dropped by only to find that it is closed until 2018 for adding on a building extension. Hopefully they will keep their website updated for reopening date.

I have been here quite a few times and whenever I visit Northampton I pop in. Not really an art gallery, more a museum of shoes and the history of shoe making and all the more interesting for that. Yes the rooms are dark but that is to protect the exhibits and there is no problem viewing them. Each time... More

Firstly if you love shoes this place is a must. We spent a couple of hours here and felt we had seen pretty much everything though there is a lot more reading to do if that's your thing. The shoes on display are varied and some of the histories behind them are fascinating. Some of the showcases are dark but... More

Very good exhibition of Shoes & Shoe making, plus other things. I did not have time to see all the exhibitions.

While out for the day, we stumbled upon this small museum in the heart of Northampton town. It was a gem. My children and I enjoyed walking all around the museum especially finding out more about shoes and how they are made. My niece who loves shoes was very intrigued and loved trying on different shoes. We missed the children's... More

I and my 22 y.o. daughter went. She found the shoe exhibits most interesting. I breezed through them. Look for Elton John's boots from Tommy! I quit liked the oldest artifacts the best. We walked around the town center. Don't miss the Guildhall! Go in the old part and wander around. Don't miss the big hall. Amazing.

Exactly as the header says great museum shame the staff appear to hate their jobs or not like people won't be rushing back

Too boring. A lot of dark showcases. It was hard to notice something inside. No brand shoes, as I expected to see.

On a cold January day, looking for somewhere warm, decided to find out about Northampton (to be honest, this has never been at the top of my to-do list) but what a pleasant surprise. The shoe exhibition was packed with a good mix of info and exhibits to include machinery, biographies and, um... shoes. Plenty of seats to rest your... More

Another museum claiming to also be a 'Art Gallery' with hardly any art in site. This museum is quite good the first time you go in and see all the fashion and shoes on the ground floor, that it's self is quite good. The other floors however aren't great in the slightest with one room in which supposed to be... More
