Pleasant Visit
Oct 2021 • Couples
Visited Castle Howard gardens during October. Unfortunately the house wasnt open due to scheduled filming which was a shame.

The house and grounds are undoubtedly stunning, but the gardens were unfortunately not at their best, our fault for visiting at this time of year, but felt the entrance fee was steep given the time of year.

It certainly wouldnt put us off visiting again, but at a better time of year and when the house is officially open.

Nevertheless it was a lovely way to spend a few hours and we look forward to a return visit to make the most of it.

Please give the gift shop its own entrance again!
Sep 2021 • Couples
We love to call in the garden centre and have a bite to eat at the stableyard cafe with our tiny pooch as both are very dog friendly, unfortunately the cafe was closed(due to filming going on around the estate)So thought we'd pop in the gift shop as have some birthdays coming up,where we've always been welcomed with our small dog there too, except for today!..We asked at the door if we could bring her in (as we always do) the nice young girl said yes but as we entered was stopped by an older women who said we couldn't go in the gift shop as they sold food(thought food was in the food shop,???? havn't a clue on her reasoning when we've been coming here for years and today refused entry.Oh well double standards you can eat in doors over in the cafe but can't "gift shop" with your dog now??.. We'll not bother coming back there's plenty other nice dog friendly places where we are welcomed where we will spend our money in the future!

Yummy pizza in a beautiful place
Sep 2021
Headed over to Castle Howard for a walk and a spot of lunch. Enjoyed a delicious pizza down by the lakeside in beautiful surroundings. The staff were super friendly and the service and the food were both excellent. Perfect day out!

Beautiful setting in Yorkshire
Jun 2021
I like to come to Castle Howard on a nice day with my 3 year old. The gardens are beautiful which makes for a great walk in the heart of Yorkshire. We then finish up at Skelf Island which is a great park for kids from 2 years old to 12 years old. There could be more variety of food and refreshments available considering the capacity of people using the venue but the quality of what is on offer is good.

Avoid the pizza
Aug 2021 • Couples
Lovely grounds to walk around and lots to see - the walled garden was my favourite part. However the ‘wood fired pizza’ near the boathouse was terrible - cheap and very poor quality ingredients, base straight out a plastic packet, and then burnt. At £9.50 it clearly had a massive markup and was a complete rip-off. We then saw a member of staff cleaning out the bins and throwing a whole pizza that someone had left into the lake. Look out for some overweight swans in the future!

Good day out
Aug 2021 • Family
I felt this was a little pricey however we had a lovely day in the gardens with our children. The park is excellent and the gardens and paths to walk are well maintained. We took a picnic and were thankful for the good weather.

Great concert venue
Aug 2021
Great night at Queen concert. A good place for outdoor music with good acoustics, great sightlines and good facilities. Easy to get in and out - though a little muddy in places as it had rained heavily the previous day.

Attended “Queen Symphonic” - evening ruined by the ridiculous situation trying to leave the car park. Terrible weather night before and hundreds of cars had left the parking area a quagmire in many places - when trying to leave NO Marshall’s directing traffic towards exit until you actually reached the final (and only) exit gate and NONE advising where it was impossible to drive through leaving dozens of cars stranded in mud with only other visitors to help push them out!!!!! Will NEVER attended another event here as they have little to no regard for public safety.

Boring House! Lovely gardens!
Aug 2021 • Couples
Paid £22 each to visit the house and gardens. The gardens were lovely to walk around. The house we found boring, not much to see - no chambers (bedrooms) for example. Most rooms just have pictures / info on the walls to read and that’s it. Very overpriced for what is on show.
