A little taste of "yester year"

This was a very interesting visit largely thanks to the knowledgeable lady who was our guide. The house boasts some magnificent furniture that is of its time.

We got free entry to this with our art pass and were really pleasantly surprised by the visit! Each room had a member of staff to chat about the history of the room and the items in it and they were all so friendly and helpful. We unfortunately came just an hour before closing but could easily have been there... More

Our first visit but won't be the last. A beautiful Georgian house with beautiful Georgian furniture. The plasterwork is so good you could end up with neckache from staring at the ceilings so much! The volunteers are very good and knowledgeable, they help bring the house to life.,

this is a must for particularly 2 reasons... 1/ if you are interested in original furniture from The Georgian era it will take your breath away.. 2/ unlike many places of such grandure it is not so big that your bored and fed up as its small and very compact.. another must visit

What a beautiful house...well deserves the Best Georgian House in UK. Nicely laid out and the guides were superb. They just told you enough and didn't bore me by going on too long. A well worthwhile visit...and not too expensive.

Enjoyed visiting this house. The room guides were very knowledgeable but I would like to have known which was the original Chippendale chair and which the copy. Lots of interesting things to look at. Our tickets last for a whole year which is a bonus but rather a long way to return.

Visited the house for the first time this week, very interesting but our visited coincided with a couple of guided groups. This meant that we were constantly waiting for one group or another to finish in a room. Perhaps if they had warned us at reception we would probably have returned at a later time.

I have passed this house so many times, yet I had no idea what treasures it had in store. Once a much grander building, do not be fooled by the now modest exterior, inside it is quite beautiful. the furniture in particular, although not original to the house is outstanding and the guides will enhance your visit with tales and...
