A beautiful house, wonderfully decorated. I especially enjoyed talking with the knowledgeable docents located in almost every room. If you love period furniture and decorative arts, do not miss Fairfax House. There are lockers at the entrance where you can leave your packages/knapsacks, etc.

Lovely to see this building presented in all its former glory. Pity that previous city planners were so naive and allowed the change of use, and then let a massive dept store be built behind it. Awful planning!

Visited out of season during York Residents weekend. It’s brilliant that the house has been rescued from its previous use as a cinema and dance hall to reveal all its Georgian splendour. Great room hosts who help to bring to life how the Fairfax family...More

Visited during the annual Residents Festival, so this attraction was very busy with us locals. This is a fascinating restoration of a building that went from a home, to a Cinema then with what remained restored to a representation of a Georgian Town house. Much...More
