When in York, visiting this museum is a "must see" The displays are all set up in a way to show, how people travelled before in time, especially in the main hall - the many Royal Waggons are a real "hit" - nice to see...More

An interesting Museum. Plenty to explore and good learning opportunities too. A strong interest in trains is recommended!

Firstly its free! Fantastic! It is also an amazing collection of trains. This museum is suitable for all, though the main room is echoes and is therefore noisy so perhaps not for those who hate noise. The engines are amazing. Great collection, but why were...More

Loved this place, free (but parking is 9 pound a day) but was ace to see the old steamers! Def a place to visit. Close to the city centre to walkable if staying in a hotel. Really enjoyed the cafe. Highly recommend!

It was a great rainy afternoon spent wandering around the Royal carriages and the magnificent steam engines. There is a cafe and a under 5's play area and the atmosphere was really relaxed. If you are in York then defiantly pop in

Not sure where Huby is but there are good links in local buses and the train station is right next to the museum.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other local things to do nearby? I have a young family 4 years and under and when finished at museum will have time to spare before travelling 3 hours home by train.
