York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

My partner and myself happened upon the terror trail sign whilst out exploring. It was a very interesting walk and talk with James, who is very knowledgeable about York's history. Would recommend this walk to everyone visiting and my friends.

This is a fantastic evening tour. A number of Fascinating, emotive stories and events from York's history are expertly brought to life by a tour guide with personality and a genuine enthusiasm for the stories being told. A must see!

Me and my partner did this on 22nd December, and it was one of our highlights of our whole york trip. The guy doing the tour was funny and got everyone involved with the story telling. I wouldn't say this was a ghost telling walk but it was so much better as it was historic stories of York. Would recommend... More

This tour is absolutely fantastic! It's REALLY, REALLY good! I went on the tour earlier this week and was hugely impressed. I'd seen it advertised last time I was in York and thought "might as well" while I was there again, especially as it was only £5. I wasn't expecting too much from it and oh how wrong I was!... More

My friend and I went to York for the weekend and on theFriday night decided to do The York Terror Trail. It was really interesting and also great fun. Audience participation is a must. The guy who took us on the tour was brilliant. Lots of fun especially "skipping" across the road.......The stories that were told were a mixture of... More

Audience participation from the off. This trail gave you history and information about York in a interesting way that will stay in your memory for not just the 85 minutes of the tour but years to come. To get the most out of this, don't be bystander, join in with the role plays, skip across the roads, embrace it. This... More

A walk around York with true gory tales about York's history. Booked online but some people turned up on the night. Good value.

This really is an excellent tour around York, unlike the ghost tours this is a factual tour with built in humour and a few surprises, I actually learnt a lot. Damien the tour guide was superb, really knew his stuff and presented it so well. If you're in York it's a must!
