We got the bus from Whitby to Robin Hood's bay which took roughly an hour then set off back walking across the Cleveland Way with our husky. The walk took around 3 hours all together but we did stop for around 30 mins for lunch. The cliff edge was no more than 20ft away from us at any point which... More

this is sort of a hidden secret great day out, especially with children and bikes The trail isn't the best, but it's good enough for a hybrid bike We cycled from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay. It was incredible going over the big viaduct at whitby, then looking at the other railway features / bridges I plan on going back... More

Not one to be missed. An absolute joy and worth every penny. Plenty of places to visit en route. Comfortable and clean and the most pleasant staff. The steam engines are wonderful.

The cinder path that runs the route of the old railway line between Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay is an easy walk or ride when compared to the coastal path but offers little in the way of views for most of it's length. There are a few useful stopping off points along the way including the Trailway' s cycle shop... More

This is a wonderful way to see the coast by bike. We hired bikes from Trailways for the day and went to Scarborough and back (you'll need to start early unless you are a fast rider). It's just a pity that the local authorities here don't maintain the track properly so a bike with suspension is advised!

Visited Aug 2016. Two adults, 13 year old, 11 and 8 year old and a dog. Started in Scarborough and rode to Ravenscar before following the Moor-Sea trail back to Scarborough. Great route with stunning views.

When you finally get onto this cinder track it's perfect. Completely traffic free and as it follows the old railway line so it misses out the steep hills that are on the main road

We were staying in Whitby for a week and had decided to walk the 21 miles of the Cinder Track. My husband is 71 and I am 68 and we are also keen dancers. As there was dancing and entertainment in our hotel every evening we did not want to overdo the walking so made the decision to do it... More
