Well worth taking a pedello out to see the Christo installation in the middle of the Serpentine. The installation is huge and made out of oil barrels. The actual shape is a truncated pyramid. Fun and silly public art. Good discussions to be had about...More

Well, it certainly stands out ...... so this is an art installation called Mastaba by Christo & Jeanne-Claude. Inside the Serpentine Gallery are more exhibits - yes, there are even more oil barrels! See my pics. Enjoy .....

Take the trail between Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens for a day of sun and scenic surroundings. Tip: Nature lovers, it’s a great spot for photography.

On most visits, we spend some time in Hyde Park. Usually, we are staying immediately across Park Lane from the Park, but this time, several blocks away, but still in Mayfair. We had entered Hyde Park, at the Cumberland Gate, and were walking to Knightsbridge....More

This is the first time we have actually visited the Serpentine Lake and it is a great walk on a sunny day. We even have a view of the emergency services dealing with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel fire that day.

A walk round the Serpentine on a sunny day is a delight. Lots of waterfowl with chicks, a heron and other wildlife seen. Keep going and there’s the Italian Gardens, Peter Pan statue and Kensington Palace to explore. Highly recommended.

On a cold rainy day this quaint little restaurant was a cosy haven against the elements. We were lucky to be just in time for lunch as it is only served from 12:00. The pulled pork burger was out of this world and definitely recommendable....More
