Recently presented here and found it a large well stocked warm comfortable library
It has to be said it has been 30 years plus since I was last in one, I guess I’m like other people who purchase online but there’s something nice about picking up a book

No notice on my table so I wasn’t aware it was a cafe but the response from the staff was so aggressive it shocked me.

Really good cafe/deli with friendly service and excellent coffees

This place is tucked away by the entrance to the library. It has a nice selection of deli and pastry items on display and the coffee is excellent too; staff helpful and friendly

Surprisingly good cafe where you least expect it

I was looking for somewhere to get a coffee and a snack on my way back to Wimbledon station. There were several cafes at the top of the hill in Wimbledon village but were all far too crowded for my liking.
By chance, I came across the library with an advertising board outside showing coffee and food available. I thought, why not give it a try. I'm glad I did. There was a wide choice of sandwiches and rolls, cakes and pastries available plus any kind of coffee you could wish for. Perhaps the cafe is designed more for the take-away market as there are not many tables available, but I was lucky enough to get one. Being that I was in a library meant I didn't have to listen to someone else's mobile phone conversation while I was enjoying a quite moment, which was an added bonus. Plus, the staff were as friendly as you could wish for. One small minus point was that the tables were not as clean as they could have been but nothing to get upset about.

A little dated
Sep 2014 • Solo
A little dated but I guess most libraries are these days. Very close to the station and shops along the High Street.

Staff seemed friendly enough.

We took the ride to Wimbledon Station to visit the Lawn Tennis Club at Church Road. This red-brick library building, along Wimbledon Hill Road, is just right in front of the station. This is a functioning public library for the district. Opens everyday from 9.30 am to 7 pm, except till 5 pm for Saturday and closed on Sunday; we were lucky to have a quick look around as we did not check the opening hours before hand. Wimbledon Hill Road is just that stretch before Church Road. The book collections were adequate for the area and the library has resorted to online and DVD access for borrowers because of space constraints. Nice to note that Wimbledon is not just about tennis !
