Simple story cleverly told through Abba's wonderful music. Good use made of a very basic set by an impressively energetic and enthusiastic cast. The Novello is a great stylish old theatre although the seats (in the stalls at least) are tired and not that comfortable with not a great deal of leg room even for someone of average height. Wouldn't... More

Went to see Mamma Mia as we were told what a brilliant musical it was. I loved the film, so was extremely disappointed in the show. Why would you have someone with short hair playing the part, not a bit like the film. Just didn't seem to be any atmosphere. The second half was better. Felt it was very amateurish.

The brilliance of abba' s music more than makes up for a basic set, a pretty thin storyline and some below par singing and acting. Overall though a fun night out and a definite feel good show.

We watched Mamma Mia in the Novello Theatre Covent Garden - it's on Aldwych and hard to miss. We had a good offer with meal and performance from a website and were seated in the Grand Circle A9 & A10 (great seats in the centre, but being short, we had to lean forwards a little to avoid the rail). The... More

Mamma Mia is a feel good musical, cleverly stringing together hits from Abba. The stage show is different to the film in a few ways, notably including Under attach after the intermission, Name of The Game, and a lovely version of Knowing Me Knowing You late in the play. Having seen this in Australia, and also the original london cast... More

"Mamma Mia" took place in Novello Theatre (Covent Garden). Although I didn't book a ticket online beforehand, I came to the theatre 45 minutes before the show and managed to buy a good ticket in the stalls. Anyway, better book a ticket in advance. The theatre is quite old, over 100 years old and needs some renovation. However, the atmosphere... More

Really enjoyed the show. BUT it would have so been much better it the sound technician could get a proper balance between the orchestra and the singers in the big songs. Some of us found the orchestra overpowered the voices !! We did go to hear the songs. I did manage to get a message to the technician during the... More

As part of a wedding present we were given tickets to see Mamma Mia. Having started to watch the film, after about 15 minutes my wife had turned it off and so was not overly looking forward to the show. Well what a turn around in someone who absolutely loved the show. The cast were great, the show fun and... More

I know the musical came before the film which we love but I can only say phaphs because we love the film so much I had higher expections of the show....I was so looking forward to this show and we were so dissapointed I was actually bored I'm afraid. We also thought the set and the production was of a amateur... I had been a fan of the show since first seeing it 17 years ago. Enjoyed it just as much this time. A great, hard working cast and tremendous orchestra made for a great party atmosphere in the narrow rows of the stalls Hope the show runs for many more years.
