The BFI is a wonderful place that, as you'd expect, has an eclectic, interesting program of films. The IMAX is, of course, a wonderfully immersive way to enjoy film. I saw Avatar here years ago and the huge screen in 3D suited it perfectly. However the best event I've been to here was a screening of 'Boyhood' featuring a Q&A... More

Watched Suicide Squad here which was great. We had a host who introduced everything dressed as the Joker and was in character. He got a few laughs and was a nice start and introduction to explain cinema etiquette. The experience was great, although its pretty pricey - its worth doing for your favorite films. I've now booked to go watch... More

We watched The Great Wall in this Imax cinema, and the experience was superb! I felt like that this was the best Imax cinema that I have visited so far. The staff is also polite and they seemed to be caring very much about the customers. They also have a very fine policy towards the Imax glasses they provide. Rather... More

Went to IMAX, fantastic screen and superb sound. If you enjoy the cinema it was a good experience. The boys particularly loved the black storm trooper models.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon screening of Rouge one. Great experience. The only issue I have is with how rude people are. Why continuously kick someone's seat? Especially when you have been asked not too. Why leave rubbish all over the floor? Do you do that at home????. I'm not a big cinema fan and the Imax didn't really change... More

Thought everything about this theatre was great, friendly helpful staff, comfy seats, respectful audience and massive screen that sort of wraps around like a futuroscope( France) attraction. Saw the new Star Wars and so impressed.

I visited the BFI IMAX last week to see the biggest screen in the UK. I have been designing, demonstrating and installing cinemas for home use for 30 years and I like to keep an eye on what commercial cinemas have to offer. The seats are great, the staff are friendly and the popcorn etc. are great. Unfortunately, I found... More

Grate place helpful to a fault, lots of places to get a drink and a snack. Lots of people but it still felt roomy.

Watched starwars on this massive screen. Wow how can I go back to provincial cinemas now? Recommend you choose rows 5 and above due to the size of the screen. Regular chairs are comfortable with good leg and arm space. Loved the compere beforehand making the show even more special. Still felt the excitement of a kid although I am... More

I came to watch Rogue 1 in IMAX during a trip to London, and thanks to the wonderful staff it was a pleasurable experience, there was a member of staff greeting us at the door, who when he found out I had been to the Star Wars Identities exhibition promptly gave me a souvenir ticket, and then when he found... Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
