Address
Neighbourhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Beautiful retailer
Oct 2021
Liberty is a beautiful shopping experience: the building is beautiful, the displays are beautiful, the items are beautiful. I arrived shortly after opening on a Friday morning and was met with a pleasantly un-busy store.

I had really nice experiences in the stationary department, which has a fabulous selection of cards, puzzles, etc., as well as in the homewares department and special Christmas shop on the top floor, which had a huge selection of ornaments, thoughtful gift suggestions (books, etc.), Advent calendars, etc. Browsing these displays was very fun, and staff were very helpful at check-out. Although I did not purchase in the fabric department, knowing that Liberty is renowned for its prints, I did enjoy browsing the imaginative designs and felt welcome to do so.

Less enjoyable was the menswear department on the lower ground floor. There, staff showed little interest in service and seemed to be cultivating a deliberately aloof vibe. This turned me off, despite liking some of the merchandise on offer.

Overall, a pleasant visit and certainly worth stopping if you’re exploring Soho and the area around Carnaby Street—assuming you like to shop, of course!

Under renovation
Oct 2021 • Couples
We love the Liberty fabrics and while I had ordered all fabrics online, they were the best quality beautiful design and a lovely soft feel and I have sewn many facemasks from them. While visiting London, it was a pleasure to browse through this store see their other high quality and expensive merchandise - we did buy a small quaint badger milk jug to use as a pencil holder. We found the sales people pleasant and they answered all our questions. On a cool but not a cold day, the whole store was majorly overheated. Also of note is that the exterior façade is being renovated and the front of the store is covered by some material with an image of the ultimate look, I guess.

Fabulous shopping

Such a fabulous store! Friendly staff. I love the scarves, jewellery and large homewares section. Reasonable prices, quality products! A regular weekend shopping experience suits me just fine. Join the rewards club!

Don’t buy at Maria Tash!!!
Sep 2021 • Solo
I have bought several of their fine earrings which are extremely expensive. However, to my disappointment almost all of them fell off. Thousands of dollars gone… when I contacted them to let them know, they did nothing about it. Don’t buy there!!!! At least if you don’t want to waste all the money you saved up!

Just been into store not 1 member of staff made eye contact, or attempted to welcome us , we have been sightseeing in the rain and we look a little bedraggled but that is no reason to make us feel so completely unwelcome, certainly will not ever return

Not very friendly
Sep 2021 • Friends
Popped in whilst sight seeing for a browse and never felt so uncomfortable in all my life! Not one member of staff either smiled , acknowledged or made my friends and I feel like we belonged in store . Think staff at this store should stop looking down their noses and judging people on appearances! Will not recommend!!!!

Browsing - just browsing!
Aug 2021
One Saturday afternoon, I visited Liberty's with three friends. We left empty-handed as it was incredibly pricey (£40 for a water bottle, £20 for a notebook or £350 for a toy pig, anyone?) however we enjoyed browsing the many departments. Our favourite was probably the home section on the top floor which was full of beautiful tea sets, bedding and ornaments. We also enjoyed the stationery section which sold a wonderful collection of cards and paintings.
Overall, it is worth a visit simply to browse but do not come here if you are wanting to buy a cheap raincoat or a pair of Crocs.

Maria Tash money grabbers
Jul 2021 • Family
Maria Tash is overpriced and they’re only out for your money. Terrible customer service by the staff on the shop floor. Nice (very overpriced) jewellery however, don’t go there, go somewhere else where you can get the same with at least a smile. Money grabbers!

Lovely shop, ignorant staff
Jun 2021
Visited London with my son on 13th/14th June. So great to be back in London and as usual we crammed a lot in. Everywhere we went we were met with friendliness and warmth - everywhere apart from Liberty. The building, history, legacy of Liberty always speaks for itself and we always love visiting but this time we were astounded by how utterly ignorant the staff were. My son wanted to buy some aftershave and we waited patiently by the Creed display - he was happy to spend £200 on a bottle and had deliberately waited to purchase it from here. However, the two male staff members stood having a conversation in the corner, whilst clearly ignoring us was enough to take us elsewhere to buy it. Moving upstairs I politely asked a question of a lady in the fabric dept, who replied first with a sigh showing that I'd disturbed her. Downstairs in the very weird menswear dept - a host of younger staff members all stood whispering between themselves & making no attempt to be helpful. When my son asked to try on a Montcler T-shirt @ £190, he was given one with white marks all over the bottom of it. When I asked for a different one the staff member shrugged at me with the words "it will come out". I don't think so.
I'm quite sure Liberty empty staff that are warm, welcoming & friendly, we just didn't have the pleasure of meeting any that day.
Overall, a very poor experience and not in keeping with any of the rest of our visit.
