The Savoy Theatre is currently home to Gypsy which stars Imelda Staunton, Lara Pulver and Peter Davison. Don't miss Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, as it transfers to the West End following its sell-out, rapturously acclaimed five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre. Imelda Staunton delivers a 'knock-out performance' (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's 'dazzling revival' (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her 'stunning' (The Independent) role as Louise. They'll be joined by Peter Davison as Herb, in this gloriously entertaining musical fable that features 'showstopping' (Mail on Sunday) choreography from Stephen Mear. Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the tale of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act. But times are changing, audiences are expecting more, and the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and 'scintillating' (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

A group of us went to see DG on Saturday and were spell-bound by the cast, performance, songs, singing, costumes and overall energy of the show. Having seen the TV version with Jennifer Hudson, Beyoncé etc I didn't imagine that the musical version would be much better - how wrong I was! From start to finish I had chills, was... More

We left this show feeling great, if you want a show with wonderful singing and dancing plus a great story then this is the show for you. We absolutely loved it and wanted to watch it again straight away. The costumes were gorgeous, the story uplifting, and the singing absolutely wonderful. We loved the theatre and all the staff were... More

I just booked five different reservations for London. The first four took less than 20 minutes -- IN TOTAL. The ATG system used by the Savoy Theatre was ridiculous and poorly designed. It took me over an hour to get through it. This is the worst booking experience I have ever had with London Theatres. My wife really wanted to... More

The show was great, theatre was lovely and well located. The cast were INCREDIBLE! Amber Riley as Effie was outstanding; 'and I'm telling you' is jaw-dropping. Also loved 'listen', Liisi LaFontaine was great too. Thoroughly recommend, very enjoyable and uplifting, especially Jimmy Early!

If you appreciate music, great singing, stunning costumes and a slick production, then don't miss Dreamgirls. The theatre is beautiful and the seats very comfortable. You'll have an amazing evening... well worth the ticket price. We went on a Monday evening, and saw Amber Riley's main understudy, Marisha. She is superb.

This show is absolutely fantastic, definitely got value for money. My first time to this theatre, not impressed. We went and queued up for a drink. At 7.30 a tannoy announcement came up bar is closed when it came to our turn. There was no announcement prior to this, no notices.nothing, so had to wait to the intervals. This got... More

I would recommend this show, brilliant from start to finish. Excellent cast and lead vocalist Effie amazing, she received 3 standing ovations from the audience. Worthwhile paying for a seat in the stalls , we had end seats seven rows from the front, got great views and thoroughly enjoyed it.

First an admission, I accept that some love this show and that I (50+ year old male) am probably not that target audience. However both my wife and I felt that the story (girl band seeking success) was routine , the songs in the main were acceptable, and Amber Riley's show stoppers were amazing. But it was very "shouty" and... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
