The Savoy Theatre is currently home to Gypsy which stars Imelda Staunton, Lara Pulver and Peter Davison. Don't miss Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, as it transfers to the West End following its sell-out, rapturously acclaimed five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre. Imelda Staunton delivers a 'knock-out performance' (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's 'dazzling revival' (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her 'stunning' (The Independent) role as Louise. They'll be joined by Peter Davison as Herb, in this gloriously entertaining musical fable that features 'showstopping' (Mail on Sunday) choreography from Stephen Mear. Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the tale of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act. But times are changing, audiences are expecting more, and the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and 'scintillating' (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

The Savoy Theatre is a little like a hidden gem - neatly tucked in to the side (and probably under as well!) the Hotel which also bears the same name. It is a gorgeous, beautifully decorated theatre. I believe that it was the first theatre in the UK to have used electricity but I could be wrong! I purchased the... More

Dreamgirls the musical was absolutely brilliant, all the actors and actresses were superb, with one outstanding performance from a young lady called Amber Riley. She got a standing ovation at the intermission, which was a first for us. And ended with a tear jerker, all in all magnificent performance.

Tucked away off The Strand, nestled alongside the Savoy Hotel, sits the lovely, unassuming Savoy Theatre x having reservations for the Grand Circle, here I thought would be a mammoth stair climb. This was not to be, as you keep at street level. Great stage view all the same, in an excellent location, surrounded by plenty of eateries and only... More

What can be more decadent than a matinee show at the savoy theatre on a cold midweek day in London. It's a time of day when you can hide and see something new. And dream girls certainly was outstanding. From the choreography the costumes and most importantly the voices. The kind that haunts you and makes you want to join... More

Me and my daughter went to watch the Dreamgirls on a wet Monday evening. The theatre is very nice, although the drinks in the bar are ridiculously expensive. The set, the costumes and all the cast were brilliant, not one of them hit a bum note. If you want to see great acting, singing and dancing, it's a must see.... More

Me and my mother saw Dreamgirls on tuesday night. I can honestly say it was our dream come true, as we love the film and music. It was absolutely fabulous from start to finish, absolutely mind blowing. The story, music, costumes etc, was amazing, beat the film and for me to say that honestly I don’t think anything will ever... More

I went to the Savoy Theatre to see Dream Girls for my birthday. It was AMAZING!! Living in London I am lucky that I get to see some wonderful shows and this one is now my number one favourite of all time. The songs are incredible and the array of talent on stage is awe inspiring. I am far too old to use OMG as a title, but that's the only comment that covers it. Amber Riley produces a performance that validates your ticket price with her first solo number. The second belter will make you hyperventilate. A fantastic ensemble cast but a performance in the lead that is honestly breathtaking . A privilege to have... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
