About
This market is one of London’s oldest and largest food markets, with over 100 delicatessens, butchers, fishmongers, and cheesemakers selling fresh produce, meats, artisanal delicacies, and more. It's where locals come to do their grocery runs, and where travelers can come to try some of the best British food in a historic setting. Join a food and market tour of London to make sure you don't miss any of the best stalls. It gets busy on weekend afternoons, and some traders aren't open on all days—typically on limited market days early in the week—so be sure to plan ahead. – Tripadvisor

Top ways to experience Borough Market

Address
Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

    Foodie Heaven is Right!
Though jammed with shoppers on the Saturday before Christmas, we savored both the sights and the tastes. The cheese stalls in particular are beyond fabulous, and one can have little bites and nibbets in a lot of places, comprising by the end a grazing meal. I would recommend morning because the market become more and more crowded as the day moved on. A very easy tube connection.

    Don't eat before you go!
Borough has a world class reputation and it certainly lives up to it. So much amazing food to eat right there at the market, and plenty to take home too. You'll want to take photos, everything is so beautifully displayed and quintissentially English. I heartily recommend the steak sandwich at Portena, the mushroom risotto and fish and chips and was it all down with an amazing value glass of bubbly from Cartwright Wines. Lush.

    A Unique experience
So much to see and buy clothing, shoes you name it - plus so many different types of food from many countries to try. We found an "All you can eat" - fixed price -Chinese restaurant on the main street which was really nice. good food at reasonable prices

A great spot in the city especially for food lovers. Just bear in mind that on a weekend it can get exceptionally busy, which both causes large queues and makes it difficult to see what’s on offer at each of the stalls, and forget any tasters! A buzz of an atmosphere and huge range of items on sale - it’s a must visit when in the area.

Amazing selection of vendors and stalls, selling food of all sorts.

We stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning.

Be aware it gets very busy.

Great food market with delicious options from all over the world. However I do not recommend to visit it on weekends as it is quite crowded then. Overall I had great experience visiting it.

I went to Borough market today and had the pleasure of meeting Rawlings and Mo. They were both friendly and happy to help. Everytime I passed them they were smiling and talking with visitors/shoppers.
They directed me to so many great food stands.

Special mention the Northfields farm shop which Mya served me a great helping of salt beef on chips, it was a good as it looked, she was so friendly and happy to explain the options in detail.

Rawlings was outstanding with his observation on a child today who had been left unattended. His level to attention and prompt action meant the child was safeguarded, and although the situation was quite frustrating, he remained professional when dealing with the parents.

It was my first time to the market and I was a little wary. I will be back as the security team as a whole made me feel safe, but a special acknowledgement to Rawlings.

Rawlings had outstanding service. I approached him to be directed to humble crumble. As I stood next to him, I could see him observing a buggy, he was so vigilant in such a busy area. The buggy was left abandoned in the middle of a busy path. He was instantly on top of it once he realised the child was alone, he done everything to find the parents, he was on the walkie talkie reporting it. He even located the parents single handedly, and made sure the child was safe. I was honestly amazed by his actions. He politely told them that they couldn’t do things like that in London as they wasn’t from here. I was anxious about going to the market because of previous events but if your security team is like him, I will definitely be back he was able to make me feel safe after seeing that.

Special mentions for Moe who was also quick on the scene and able to provide directions throughout my trip, super happy smiling every time I bumped into him.

You have such a great security team. Thanks for the exceptional service.

Easy access. Train station London Bridge. On the last Saturday in September 2023, sunny day, 32 degree Celsius. The market was crowded with visitors. The apple juice is very expensive, 3.5 Pounds Sterling per cup! A long queue in the Bomba Paella stall. What a lucky moment for those using cash but unlucky for those using card in payment. Cashless machine was down and the queue was reduced immediately. Not safe as too many people in a small space. Not recommended for young children.
