Neighbourhood: Covent Garden
Whether you're headed here to check out the multitude of shops, theaters, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, or simply to be among the multitude of people who pass through this pretty part of town, you'll love soaking up the festive and historic atmosphere in and around Covent Garden. Even if you don't have tickets to the opera or a show at one of the many famous theaters here, don't be surprised if find yourself captivated by some impromptu act of a street performer wowing the crowds in Covent Garden's Piazza. If you do have tickets, you'll be pleased to note that many of the local eateries accommodate theatergoers with prix fixe menus, early dinners, and later than usual opening hours.

Average London Shopping

Located not far from Covent Gardens is this shortish street. There's nothing on the street that stands out, so not sure why Neal Street is listed as an attraction. Mostly shops selling clothes and a couple of eateries including Lola's, that sell excellent cupcakes.

Shopping Street in Covent Garden
Jun 2018 • Family
A short street near Covent Garden with a number of stores. Popular chains like Brandy Melville, Dr. Martens, Diesel and Mango. There’s a Nike, but it’s closing on June 30, 2018. There are other spots, like a pub and a cupcake shop too.

If coming by from out of the area, get there from the Covent Garden tube stop.

Not much of interest here!
Jul 2017 • Couples
We visited Covent Garden again during our most recent stay in London. As we were leaving Covent Garden we headed up Neal Street heading towards Shaftsbury Avenue.
We had walked along this street during a previous stay in London and had not been very impressed.
This time, there was even less to see. While we were there, the street was full of people either approaching or leaving Covent Garden.
The street itself is currently home to several fashion chain stores, a few cafes and a large construction site. Other than that, there was not much more to see!

Busy thoroughfare linking Covent Garden to Shaftsbury Avenue
Aug 2017 • Friends
Neal Street is the busy main thoroughfare running from Shaftsbury Avenue to Long Acre, and is predominantly occupied by shops and restaurants. Beware of traders standing outside their premises offering “free” gifts - this is a ploy to entice you into the shop for the “hard sell” and it’s hard to get away if you opt not to buy. The nearby Neal’s Yard is a much nicer experience, an entrance to which is from either Monmouth Street or Shorts Gardens.

Still busy
Apr 2017 • Family
Neal Street used to be full of quirky shops and was one of the eclectic streets for shopping in London. It is still busy with tourists and youngsters but the old charm has left the street as had the old shops.

A way to get to Neals Yard
Feb 2017 • Friends
Yes this is the entrance in a way to Neals Yard which itself is a great little hidden gem of an area that you should visit

Neal Street itself is unfortunately full of national branded shops now and not little local shops which are more unique

Standard Shops
Feb 2017 • Couples
Neal street has many other smaller streets leading off it which now have the quirky shops in them instead of Neal Street itself which has the large chain fashion shops in it now instead

In the heart of Covent Garden
Oct 2016 • Solo
Neat street stretches just north of Covent Garden tube station going towards north. It is a busy road, packed with tourists and youngsters from nearby dancing schools or people from offices.

Lots of varied and very unique shops, bars, restaurants not far from clubs and theatres.

Fun, quirky, stylish neighbourhood
Oct 2016 • Solo
Charming and quirky with a little something for everyone: cafes, restaurants. boutiques. Colourful architecture and well worth the stroll on the way to Covent Garden.
