My main aim for visiting Bethnal Green was to follow a family history trail to St Matthew's Church. What an amazing place Bethnal Green is! Go on a Friday for market day and it is very colourful - stalls selling beautiful fabrics and clothes, food...More

its more than a tube station, but the defining area, Bethnal Green road, has no themed areas, shopes are randomly sprawled, the market stalls bring more feel, but the cheap fast food and the supermarket reflects it

Don't dismiss it. It;s home to York Hall Boxing Club, the V&A museum of Childhood, Whitechapel road, The Blind Begger and the Camel, The Hare and the Florist Arms. Theres enough there for a[ pleasant alternative evening.

I wouldn't rate this area as much of a tourist attraction in itself although it is home to the V & A Museum of Childhood and Victoria Park is nearby. The largest ethnic group here is Bangladeshis and there are many more Muslims than Christians....More

Bethnal Green is an almost unrecognisable place from the run down areas of a few years ago. It has become a dominant Asian area and in that has a huge multicultural mix with Asian street markets. The beauty of the crowded area that is Bethnal...More

Love Bethnal Green, great bars, open spaces, history. Close enough but far enough when staying from the centre of London. Good transport links and easy to walk miles.

Vibrant place if you look beyond the London traffic fumes and dirt. Fascinating history and character. I particularly recommend the Bethnal Green WW2 disaster memorial in 'Barmy' Park next door to the Roman Road entrance of the tube station, opposite St.John on the green church....More

Yes, at times it is a bit tacky and run down, but remember that "real" people live here and from our experience ,they are generally very nice and welcoming and eager to please. We also would not be hesitant to live here if we were...More
