Everyone that I know who has been here says they can spend hours wandering around and dreaming of their ideal trip. This place focuses on travel - books (guide and fiction) and maps in particular though they do have all sorts of bits and pieces such as nautical charts and binoculars! I love the maps printed on the floor plus... More

Stanford's is a little gem in the heart of Covent Garden. Great travel books and accessories and an increasingly large selection of children's books that we find ourselves frequenting a lot! Very helpful staff.

I always visit Stanfords when I visit London. There are so many great books and nik-naks for young and old. It specialises in travel books and maps which are very interesting. It is really conveniently located at the edge of Covent Garden. Also has a cafe which I have not tried but have heard good things about.

This is probably the best place in London to come to stock up on travel books and maps prior to a trip somewhere. Very extensive collection spanning pretty much anywhere you might be interested in visiting. Can get pretty busy inside on weekends though.

This is the best travel book shop ever. I've used it for years and whenever I plan a new trip I check out the books, maps and accessories. They cover anywhere you are likely to visit, and also stock kids travel related books and toys and travel memoirs. They also have a lovely cafe. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. On... More

I can easily spend two hours browsing three storeys of maps, travel guides and memoirs, globes, and interesting accessories. There is an exhaustive range of titles on every nook and cranny of the planet, it would seem.
