A lovely place full of history, although premium price for what's on offer. The best building itself is still worth the trip. My 7 and 10 year old had fun.

Not quite like your average NT location - although the history of this interesting property was still there to see (literally, with the interesting 'reveals' of Tudor brickwork etc). And the Breakers' Yard is just mad - a double deck caravan decked out as a...More

In October 2016 National's Trust Sutton House was home to Life.Death.Whatever. A month of events, installations, and workshop aiming to redesign the dialogue about death and dying. The beautiful building was the perfect surrounding for the event I attended.

There was an event on 'showcasing the best of the UK funeral industry ...' which marred the visit because a few rooms had advertising displays for funerals and funeral staff waiting to talk to visitors, so we just passed through these rooms very quickly. Probably...More

This was an interesting, very varied and quite little house in easy reach of Hackney Central station. It is one of the oldest houses in the East of London. The house traces its history through from the 16 Century to its comparitively recent days as...More

Sutton House (a National Trust property) is different - a fascinating 16th century house (family home, a house for refugees and at times a school) in East London that remains involved in current exhibitions and events (in September 2016 for example about the role of...More

Accessible from the City by bus, this is a fascinating old house with a chequered history. Staff were very helpful and friendly, but we sensed this is something of a 'poor relation' in the National Trust scheme of things. Our visit was somewhat spoiled by...More

Great afternoon exploring this 16th century building with its multiple uses over time. Fascinating to see and learn about the development and different uses of the house over 500 years. Loved the Breakers Yard, preserving in a quirky way, more recent history of car spares...More
