There can be no other theatre in the world which has two such distinct and diverse claims to fame as the Aldwych.During the period from 1925 until 1933 the theatre housed a series of farces by Ben Travers which have gone down in history as 'The Aldwych Farces'. They included such familiar titles as A Cuckoo in the Nest, Rookery Nook, Thark, Plunder and A Cup of Kindness. Nearly 30 years later, on 15 December 1960, the Royal Shakespeare Company took over the Aldwych as its London base.During the next 21 years, prior to the company moving to its theatre in the Barbican, history was frequently made. The Aldwych is currently the residence for the Olivier & Tony award winning Beautiful - The Carole King Musical

If you love the music of Carol King, and her contemporaries you will love this show. The lead singer is incredible such a talented musician, singer and actress. She will blow you away. It was so good to hear the life behind the lyrics which made the songs all the more special. You will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed the show and the songs from a very talented cast although we did feel the storyline was light. We had seat s right at the back of the gods - two right at the back by the lighting technicians. We could see the stage and at £15 a seat it is a balance between price and location.

(aisle seat rear stalls" This was wonderfully complemented by all staff encountered they were courteous, helpful and really added to our experience The show, set and cast were all magnificent and we had one of our best nights out for ages.

A brilliant show full of nostalgic songs. Well performed by a talented cast. Only drawback is that the sears are not designed for someone of 6 ft Needed to stretch out a lot at the end of the show Well worth the discomfort tho

It was my birthday and I had been "nattering on and on" about Beautiful (according to my honey) since it was first shown on Broadway, so we went to see it. It was magical! The songs, staging and the story were a delight. The acting and the musical numbers were fabulous! We watched a matinee show and had "nosebleed seats"... More

If you want an excellent evening's entertainment then going to see and be completely overwhelmed by the fabulous music and performances in the Carole King Musical will NOT disappoint you; just 5-STAR. The Aldwych Theatre is so easy to get to: a very short walk from Covent garden, just around the corner from Drury Lane or indeed up from the... More

We booked to see Beautiful , the Carole King Musical back in December 2016, a long wait, but well worth it. Well organised, excellent staff , the show as brilliant, a wonderful evening.

Booked on the day we were going and the guy in the booking office was great in getting good easy access seats. Once in the theatre Christina was so helpful and assured us if we needed help she would assist us. At the interval she asked if we wanted to change our seat's as there was more leg room for... More

Our first visit to this lovely Edwardian theatre. Usual idiosyncrasies - lots of stairs, narrow gangways, etc - but this adds to it's charm. Apart from the usual queues at the Ladies the toilet facilities were good having been newly re-fitted. We had Stalls Row C centre seats which were excellent. They were in fact five rows back as unusually... More
