I went to see the NT Treasure Island on a Travelex ticket because I had heard so much about the set! I was not disappointed - it is a stunner and almost as good as that for Lord of the Rings at Drury Lane some years back. During the interval I heard one punter say "I cant wait to see... More

The Hard Problem is how to be tease out the positives from a lacklustre and disappointing experience. I have loved Stoppard for years and a fresh production was an exciting concept, but this does not do him any justice at all: sixth form performances (apart from Lucy Robinson and Jonathan Coy who were both enjoyable), pacing issues, an average set... I used to work here so it was a happy homecoming. As other reviewers have said the set is the star of the show. It was pitched for children despite the mostly adult audience, and walked a line with pantomine which was not always successful. The acting was a lot patchier than I was expecting. The updating to have Jim and... More

Treasure Island offers you the most amazing sets you will find in London but sadly the show was very childish almost like a pantomime. I expected the show to be geared for a younger age group but I felt some of the acting was like the worst of children's television presenters. Most of the audience seemed to enjoy the show,... More

This play had some good moments but overall I felt it was lost in this big theatre. I am not of Indian origin and yet I felt embarrassed by the consistent theme that all Indians are dishonest and money grabbing and will only work if bribed. The Storyline felt flimsy and un engaging and fizzled out at the end making... More

We pre purchased our Back Stage Tour tickets and loved every minute of the tour. It showed us the details that they go through in the production of their performances! Outstanding details. After being on the tour we decided to purchase tickets to two shows they had playing in two different theatres. We saw Treasure Island and War Horse. Both... More

What a treat and privilege it was to score two tickets for the new Stoppard play (and Hytner's last directorial effort at the National Theatre). The play is brilliant -- so nuanced -- I disagree with all the reviews that I have read so far. Stoppard has amazingly woven in some of the biggest challenges in the academe -- inclusion... More

We saw Behind the Beautiful Forevers and February, and had the Terrace dinner, in a package. I booked from Australia before our trip, and the process was straightforward. The show was great - based on a terrific book and so well done. The dinner was also very good, and for the quality of good on offer, we thought it was... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
