From a small grocery store in Piccadilly in 1707, has grown a celebrated store with an international reputation for the exclusivity and quality of the products it sells.

Fortnum's Food Hall is an irresistible display of gourmet pleasures, from chocolates and biscuits to smoked salmon and Stilton, vintage marmalade and seasonal produce. Passionate about provenance, we are proud to recommend every jar, spoonful and slice for our hungry customers.

I brought my mom for the high tea experience, which I booked in advance online (as it gets so busy). Excellent service, food quality, tea selection, elegant atmosphere but not too formal, just perfect. I particularly loved the caring service. The waitress first and the Maitre D' later came to the table several times making sure all was good and... More

This is one to visit and have on your list (like Harrods). Shop is beautiful and lots of lovely things to buy or look at! Not the cheapest of places but then you don't expect it to be. We had tea in the café on the 1st floor - cant remember the name - again it wasn't cheap but was... More

We had been to the RA and wanted a sit down and a drink. We were given a window table for two in the restaurant at the back of the shop. Perfect. I had fresh lemonade and my companion had one of their speciality coffees. This came in beautiful small individual silver coffee pot with milk in a silver jug.... More

Great food halls with plenty of space to wander. I tried the cocktail bar on the third floor, which is quiet and understated. Remarkably well priced cocktails.

I knew what it would be like. I regard places like F&M's in the same way that I regard an art gallery with pictures I can't afford or a museum. If you like doing this sort of thing you can wander round and be amazed/surprised/troubled/shocked/disgusted by the overpriced goods on display. Think of a sensible price for an item, double... I love Fortnum & Mason. The shop itself is beautiful and shelves are always pristine. Book lunch in the restaurant or afternoon tea before shopping. As a department store on several floors, there is plenty to see. The ground floor is dedicated to specialty teas, coffees and other foods - the packaging is divine and they offer the most amazing... Wow! While visiting from Texas, we had afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason. This was one of my favorite experiences in London. We had a delicious array of sandwiches and decadent desserts. The service was impeccable, and our waiter, Gosia, went out of her way to make our tea time special. Love, love, love!

My husband and I had the most delicious lunch at The Gallery. As expected the food and drinks were superb, and service exceptional. The Gallery a lovely, casual setting for lunch and an oasis of calm and excellent dining in Piccadilly. Highly recommended.

Great varieties of tea, cookies, service excellent, packaging and everything is great for self or souvenir. Price is reasonable London standard. We found some of the similar products at airport duty free, which is 2-3 pound more expensive. In case u miss something, you can still get it at airport. Worth to visit.

I've been in London for 3-5 days with a colleague. I've been there in the past, but just at the shop. So we decide to try Fortnum & Mason for the afternoon tea. It was an extraordinary experience, the palette of tea is unique. If you like patisserie is the right place. But I would suggest it just because it... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
