Fascinating place, but it's shrunk a lot over the years, so it doesn't take long to go round the stalls. That said there are a lot of interesting items for sale of better than average quality. Plenty of places to eat in the area. We...More

Bermondsey market is antique lovers well kept secret. It operates only Fridays from very early until 1-2pm, with a small but quality selection of dealers selling antiques of all types (lots of antique jewelry). Worth getting up early for the chances of finding a rare...More

Visited antique market on a Friday morning , not as big as I'd hoped but some real nice stalls. Picked up a few bargains and enjoyed meeting the quirky stall owners

If there is a sunny morning this is a very nice antique market to visit. The place is not very big, but that means you can look at everything. There seems to be a lot of experts visiting, too, which indicates that the sellers know...More

The write ups we had seen suggested that this was a busy market. Regrettably on the day we visited 29th December there were not many stalls and what was there was pretty poor. I would suggest it may be worth a visit when more stalls...More

Couldn't wait to get to Bermondsey Antique market. Not what I expected. There were some antiques, but a whole lot of vintage items. Lots of silver flatware, lots of tea cups and china. The jewelry was a huge disappointment. Mainly vintage costume jewelry. Some gems,...More

Bermondsey is a Friday market. It used to be a huge market with many dealers and customers coming from far and wide. However, we were very disappointed to find that it's now only in a small square with a vastly reduced number of stalls. There...More

Although this market is now but a shadow of its former self, it is one of the only places where you can still come and find a true bargain. Whilst one had to arrive at 4am with a torch back in the "old days" nowadays...More

I did the Bermondsey Beer Mile and the Market one glorious Saturday in early May. We went for the craft brew, we stayed for the good eats. I had the crab mac and cheese grilled cheese, and it was as good (and decadent) as it...More

Only a leisure ten minute walk from London Bridge tube station is the little treasure of Bermondsey Market. Cocooned amongst some private flats and Hotels with Restaurants it reminds me a a a nice medieval enclosed space with old cobblestones. Opens on Friday morning with...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Is the outdoor market still on Friday; in the wee hours of the morning while still dark? I was there 20 years ago for he 1st time and had to buy a torch to see; it was a lot of fun. Am coming back in August and want to go again; my husband and I are arguing he says it was Thursday and I say Friday?? Thank you, Kathy
