Old Spitalfields Market represents one of the country's last bastions of consumer diversity and individuality. Home to an old-fashioned community of over 30 independent and large traders and a plethora of chic bohemian businesses, it has secured its place at the forefront of interiors, design, food and the arts - a market that truly embraces the spirit of modern London, an entrepreneurial and cultural melting pot that is ever-changing and developing without ever forgetting its historic past. As Samuel Johnson so eloquently said of London: 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." The same is very much true of Old Spitalfields Market.

I really like it at Spitalfields Market. Lots of good restaurants and some interesting stalls. It's in a very vibrant area and is also very close to Brick Lane which is a very cosmopolitan area with some fantastic pockets of old London still remaining.

One thing I was surprised about was the fact that there is such a large range of places to get food from all over the world, from American to Indian to African to Italian, all you need. I would personally recommend the cupcake stand, they were amazing. as well as the massive amount of stalls from things such as top... More

Stumbled across Old Spitalfields when on a recent visit to London Sadly, we had a booking at a nearby restaurant for lunch, so only spent half an hour or so there. Old Spitalfields is a covered market in an area currently being rejuvenated. We were there on a Monday & there was a variety of stalls & places to eat.... More

Some fantastic stalls in this covered market. Quirky stalls and amazing street food stalls. Take your time and enjoy. An excellent day out. We can't wait to visit again.

East End and a little up-market but the market and Shoreditch environs on Sunday are an absolute must. London throbbing

A Sunday afternoon stroll through Spitalfields Market is a bucket list must do. An eye watering array of the handmade and the homemade sitting alongside clothes from yesteryear and food from everywhere.

I repeatedly visit Spitalfields for the shops, food stalls, market vendors, and a workout or manicure if needed. It has all the higher -end basics, MAC, urban decay, etc. that you need. A fitness boutique is in here as well, drop in for a workout, then eat from the vendors!

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
