A good Three Hours Fifteen Minutes, on the "Cockney Sparrow" yesterday, from Westminster Pier to Hampton court, considering the length of the trip good VFM. The reason for only Three Stars, is the same as a previous reviewer, drinks prices are too high, and the booking system is chaotic. Asked for two tickets with Freedom Passes, and charged £11.30 each... More

Brilliant trip up the thames on the boat. You can sit indoors or outdoors and we chose out to get lovely views of the river. They have a bar serving drinks (alcoholic and non), tea, coffee, and snacks. We started at Westminster Pier to Ricmond but you can go all the way to Hampton Court. At the start they have... More

We started our London trip with the Thames River Tour, it gave us a fantastic "lay of the land" orientation of the city and eased us into sightseeing. The river tour highlight was the the captain's narrative which was hilarious and informative.

Did the trip on a cloudy day and we still thought it was absolutely brilliant; if the sun had been shining that would have been the icing on the cake. One of the boat crew gave a really amusing and iinformative commentary on the first section of the trip and the sound system is good enough to hear everything whether... More

A wonderful way to spend the day; seeing all there is to see on the Thames upstream from Westminster Pier. The commentary was lively, interesting and informative; the scenery delightful. Highly recommended and a great way to decompress.

This is a must do early trip, and the best way to arrive at Kew Gardens or Hampton Court BUT it takes 3 hours ish. The boat is large enough the bar sells tea, coffee, cake and Fullers London Pride. The cheeky chappy Captain gives interesting snippets and the river is shown in a good light. Doing the boat race course... More

Almost all tourists take the river boats east to the Thames barrier and this IS worth doing HOWEVER for the more discerning tourist head west and take a boat to Kew for Kew Gardens, Richmond (which is just a charming and historic riverside town) or Hampton Court for the Palace. The fares are very reasonable, some of the boats are... More

Fun boat ride down the Thames and narration of all the areas and buildings was very interesting and excellent especially with all the different architectures and history! Very enjoyable ride for 1 hour.

Took the trip on The Cockney Sparrow to Kew Gardens from Westminster Pier. What a great way to see a different aspect of London. The Captain gives a humorous but informative guide about places of interest along the route. The trip takes about 90 minutes each way.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
