Beautiful Theatre/Amazing Show. Organisation outside and bar area WOOPS!
Oct 2021
Putting the show to one side which was incredible. Organisation was sort of Ok outside, I think more barriers were needed as staff were wandering around outside to check covid cards but they would never be able to tell whether they had checked or not.
Beautiful Theatre interior. Very friendly Staff. Interval was a nightmare at the downstairs bar. we queued the whole interval and still got no where near the bar. Again this could be easily solved with roping. we never got drinks as the bells had gone.

Good to be back

The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that the carpet area of my seat was so sticky my shoes were sticking to it and when we came out my soles were thick with stick goo!

Beauty and the Beast
Oct 2021
5 * for the show. 3* for the venue.
A most enjoyable and engaging staging of Beauty and the Beast with a very talented cast – strong singing from the main cast, excellent costumes and set and brilliant choreography (including a very clever camera view from above of the dancers doing a sequence laid on the floor). After the interval there were lots of visual effects, pyrotechnics and video projections. A poignant part was the illumination of the red rose as the last of the petals fell. At the start there was the voice of the legendary Angela Lansbury narrating the prologue – which was a nice touch.
We had a staggered time of entry and that seemed to work well to get the audience in to the venue. Despite being an older theatre an attempt has been made to get a good circulation of air in the auditorium. We were on row C in the Stalls and although the seats are not the comfiest there was plenty of legroom for my taller partner. The staff were friendly, helpful and doing their best to cope with the number of people and the extra Covid protocol. The ladies facilities are a nightmare – insufficient toilets and due to the high demand they were getting blocked. There were also long queues for the bars. Despite a polite statement before the performance started about wearing face coverings very few people put them on and no-one was challenged about it unlike another theatre we have recently visited. I personally will not be booking an event at this theatre in the near future.

Venue = Lovely, Staff = Stretched
Oct 2021
It's a nice enough theatre, and the theatre itself is beautiful inside.

ATG's staff were pretty much struggling durng the interval and for some reason if you want to buy ice cream, you have to go hunt out some random chaps hidden away out front, rather than in the theatre itself. In Manchester we have the 'at seat' option - assume Liverpool had it too? (did it go for Covid?). Eitherway ques galore and I'm glad that I didn't actually want a drink too as I'm mobility impared and I couldn't have managed to stand up that long!

Oddly, the staff have time to walk through the theatre and do at seat sales with the merchandise.

Very poor ambassador lounge
Sep 2021 • Couples
So the show (Beauty and the Beast) was amazing, but the rest wasn't so good.

Starting with the Ambassador lounge which I had paid extra for. The lounge was understaffed and we had to wait a long time for our drinks and repeatedly had to ask for water which we had ordered. (We needed water to take back into the theatre as it was absolutely boling hot in there). I also have a theatre card which I had shown when we ordered each drink, but on receiving the bill, the discount hadn't been applied.

During the interval, we couldn't get near the 'private' toilet for the lounge as everyone from the circle was using it, (with a few being rather rude when you tried to point that out) so that made for a very uncomfortable second half. Finally people were just wandering in and out of the lounge and sitting down even though they hadn't paid to use it. Which left me really uncomfortable leaving our things in the cloakroom provided for the lounge.

Finally the theatre itself was boiling hot, I drank two full bottles of water just to try and keep cool, to not avail. Not ideal when ventilation is key at the moment.

Beauty and the HEAT
Sep 2021
After 3 hours travel there was no food on offer very crowded, no lifts workng and a wait at t he bar for 35 mins then when got to within 3 people told th at the bar was closing for curtain call.
The auditorium was way to hot NOT ventilated, most people not wearing masks even when told to do so.
The staff that were available were fantastic and polite its a shame the Empire dont hire more to help out.

Avoid during the pandemic.
Sep 2021 • Couples
We visited on Saturday 25th September 2021 to watch the matinee of Beauty and The Beast.

The ambassador lounge was understaffed and under stocked. We waited 45 mins for a drink.

The Auditorium was hot and stuffy and despite the audience being offered free masks, only a handful wore them.

I would definitely avoid the place during the pandemic.

Far too hot!
Sep 2021 • Family
Beauty and the beast was absolutely fantastic, brilliant bar staff and not bad pricing. But the heat inside was unbelievable, as you looked across the audience everyone was fanning themselves. The heat in the auditorium was dangerous and uncomfortable, it needs to be looked into.
