A 15-minute walk from its Anglican counterpart along Hope Street, 1960s' "futurism" best describes the exterior of what's locally know as "Paddy's Wigwam." The huge interiors illuminated by natural light through the exquisite stained glass is worth the journey itself.

There is no entry charge to this cathedral and it is extremely welcoming to all people regardless of faith or not. From the outside the 1960s architecture did not appeal to us. However the inside is very different, it is an impressive and very spiritual space. Well worth a visit.

Very modern Cathedral, beautiful inside, a must see in Liverpool. Compare it with the Metropolitan Cathedral, both are modern builds but this is modern design whilst Metropolitan is more traditional in design.

Looking at this cathedral from afar it reminded me of a nuclear power plant cooling tower, but as you get in it has this fantastic circular layout. Very airy and open. Well worth a visit.

The stain glass windows were gorgeous, it was a sunny day where the light reflected round the whole room. It's lovely to take a seat in silence and think/pray.

I hadn't been in Liverpool in over 30 years so this was a very sentimental return visit for me. For a Cathedral of the 60's, the building really is beautiful. It has obviously changed a lot since I was last here but the serenity and peacefulness of the Cathedral is still the same. A truly lovely place to visit even... More

Enjoyed our visit to this cathedral, easily reached as one of the stops on the tour bus. Very different to anything I have seen before. One problem we had was the large flight f steps to the main entrance as my wife had some difficulty climbing these. However, we discovered that there is a lift available at another entrance.

We attended on Easter Sunday, while staying in Liverpool for the weekend. The unusual 60's building design attracts a fair amount of tourist attention from the outside and words fail me to describe the inside, other than, it is jaw-droppingly beautiful! The service was wonderful, very welcoming to strangers of all faiths and the choir sounded amazing.

The Metropolitan Cathedral Of Christ the King in Liverpool is a spectacular 1960s building, relatively recently refurbished inside and out and beautifully restored to its full glory. The interior space is wonderful in its extent, colour and atmosphere and is truly beautiful. The glory of the huge lantern is almost too difficult to describe in words, just go and look... More
