Hidden away in the centre of Lincoln is this little explored area and this museum which although not massive is not to be missed especially as it is free. There is also a cafe and toilets to complete the experience! Yay!

Good little museum in an area that requires exploring. Never over busy and has a number of notable items.

It is a bit late now as we visited on the last day of the exhibition. As has been pointed out, entrance to the Gallery is normally free but for the 'BP' portraits it was £5, and £4 for seniors - no problems with that. I fully admit to being a cultural philistine and heathen and obviously lack the sophistication,... More

Visited this attraction quite by chance and joined a guided tour of the exhibits. Very interesting and well informed guide. So much history in such a small area, very well laid out and some excellent exhibits. Don't miss visiting also the excellent restaurant, great coffee and delicious soup all well presented and reasonable prices. Good gift shop too. The only... More

First time visit to the Gallery. Took a while to find a parking space (there's none at the Gallery), but that's Lincoln just now - roads and car parks closed for major road re-routing. We went to see the BP Portraits Award Exhibition - the pictures are stunning. One or two are almost indistinguishable from a photograph; the technique on... More

A special visit for the BP portrait exhibition which was fantastic but also included a shorter time spent looking at some regular exhibits at the usher and at the Collection- could spend several hours between the two. Loved the information about the Lutterell psalter and also the human time line. Lots of tasks to keep children interested and occupied too.

This is a gallery well worth a visit. Having just been to see the national portrait exhibition we were delighted that it had come 'up north' as London gets them all and not everyone can get down there easily. There is a lift and the staff are very helpful. There was a charge for the visiting exhibition but I believe... More

My family have recently discovered this place and went along to the Story Time session for children on our latest visit. Our daughter (almost two years old) thoroughly enjoys the books, associated craft activities, wandering around the exhibits, learning about local history as she goes and playing in the dedicated children's section (includes coin rubbing, dress up, toys, books and... Usher Gallery is a museum of art which occasionally hosts exhibitions. The Collection is a modern museum outlining the history of the area from prehistoric through to Norman times. Facinating exhibits and re-constructions, with lots of interactive stuff for children. We visited at half term and it was busy with children, some doing craft work and others walking around with...
