WORTH A VISIT

I decided to have a look at the Abby Pumping Station which isn't far from me, well worth a visit, I found it very interesting and it is free.

I was expecting a grand Victorian extragant spectacular pumping station as can be found not too far away in Nottinghamshire. What we got instead was a strange mixture od the history of various parts of Leicestershire life over the past century,. inculding the origin and use of the pumping station.......(and a stuffed Polar Bear, for some unexplained reason). Some of... More

Unless you're an enthusiast, you may want to give this place a miss. Probably better to invest a bit of money and visit the National Space Centre across the road. I only came here because I had 30mins free before the 'We Are Stars' show in the NSC.

Stumbled across the Pumping Station after a visit to the Space Centre, which is situated next door. The place is a great find, full of interesting artefacts and is very child friendly. The museum is free entry and is well worth a visit. Would recommend.

After leaving the space centre feeling very deflated with our visited we noticed the pumping station and decided to give it a go. It was fabulous!! Lots of interesting things to press and watch and whilst small we had a lovely 30 mins here. There is a toilet which you can flush and watch the 'poo' travel down the pipes... More

I visited this museum with young children. I was thinking this place might be good for children. I was surprised to see lots of things to see and activities to do. It is small in size, but very interesting to see local culture and development of this region. This is one of the must visit places in Leicester!

I couldn't believe what I saw as I left the space centre : a magnificent Victorian pumping station with the tallest brick chimney I have ever seen( 164 feet in height ), an awesome 1930's massive steam shovel and that's just on the outside. I didn't even realise the pumping station existed and once inside I was very impressed with... More

Went to visit the space centre then saw the entrance to this place. It's free and took one of my one kiddies to see. It's not massive and won't take long to go round but at least 30min - hrs worth of fun. It's not just about a pumping station there is some other historical subjects to view.

I visited the Pumping Station on a visit to the adjacent Space Centre. This is a very well preserved pumping station with the massive beams etc very well preserved. What was the "boiler house" now has many interesting and interactive exhibits relating to the water/sewerage workings of Leicester, plus a car, some motorcycles and other items such as cinematography. Would... More
