This is a top place on a clear day to view the northern fells and derwent water. The climb is quite steep in places and you definitely need proper footwear. For the average person of average fitness it is quite a climb, but well worth...More

Great hike, but fairly short. 50 minutes to 75 minutes to get to the peak, easier and faster going down. Views at the top are beautiful. A bit challenging at the peak even for fit people, but only for a very short distance.

An excellent walk for fit and able. Some steep climbs and quite difficult at the summit. But magnificent views and easy to follow path. Good photo opportunities.

Best part of our holiday so far, loved it and the people we met on the walk. Worth travelling to the Lakes for this alone.

This is a great half-day walk. You get amazing views right from the start and it only gets better from there. Parking can be an issue so be prepared to park a bit further up the road. There are plenty of options to make this...More

We took the ferry from Keswick & for warm-up got off at Hawked End (?) - worked well. Going up was interesting, steep, rocky (slatish), muddy, grassy :-) enjoyable and exhausting. Just take it easy. The disappointment half way up was genuine 😂 but we...More

Wainwright reckoned this was one of the best views in the Lake District and I agree. Can get quite busy but well worth the trip.

Clearly marked, well used footpath for a naturally popular walk. It's a continuous climb to reach the top. Depending which direction you choose for the round trip there is a steep scramble up or down near the top but in fine weather there's not much...More

A fantastic hike with beautiful views over the lakes. You can do a round trip even, go up on one side and down the other and take a boat back. We started our tour by boat from Keswick, got off the boat at Hawes End...More

Two options really 1. Use the loos in the car park at Glenridding and hold on 2. Find a sheltered spot, squat and go there Set aside your modesty it really isn’t an issue You’ll be fine 👍🏻

Hi, yes, you can choose to go as far as you want. If you arrive there by boat, you can get on the next boat that arrives in about an hour and continue on the boat ride. You can get off at any of the spots and back on again... More

Solo trek midweek would be absolutely fine - take the boat over from Keswick, check the boat times there and back. Lots at places to stay in Keswick (see Keswick tourist sites), not sure about where to stay in Buttermere... More
