We did the Via Ferrata here. Luckily we had great weather so fantastic views. Quite strenuous and I would say you need to be reasonably fit but well worth the effort. Although they say you can't take your own camera I would suggest you do or take photos on your phone as the ones our guide took of the group... More

We're very sorry that you found the quality of your photos not to your liking. Our Via Ferrata guides are normally very diligent and take in the region of a 100 - 200 top quality images as you enjoy your Via Ferrata experience with Honister. We can't however let people use phones or cameras while on the course due to... More

Brilliant way to spend a rainy day or not, exploring the mines of Honister. Very informative tour and an insight to what life was like for miners years ago. If you've not been then GO!!

It was an awesome experience, all my family and friends were 20yrs and above, been 51 myself. it's well set up and actually easier than it looks for someone with general level of fitness. The only downside was long steep walk back down, it took it out on my aging knees.

The first thing that strikes you about Honister Slate mine is the beautiful scenery. Set at the top of the infamous Honister Pass, the site of the mine commands great views. We were booked into the Via Ferrata Xtreme experience, and what an experience it was. Friendly instructors and the others in the group made for an easy going, breathtakingly... More

The day started with a slightly nerve wracking at times drive up to Honister Slate Mine. The views on the way up are stunning, just mind the sheep on the road! We booked the Kimberley tour of the slate mine, perfect with a 5 year. Donald, our tour guide, was a real character, very knowledgeable and with a clear love... More

Firstly, the drive up from Keswick is really nice with plenty of views. I haven't done the Via Ferrata (yet) but the slate mine tour is quite interesting (but not dog friendly). The shop and above ground workings are all dog friendly, and there are some nice pieces in the shop which really look good in the blue/green slate HOWEVER,... More

Myself and then my boyfriend (now fiance) went for Classic Via Ferrata on 29.04.16. It was an amazing experience, such breathtaking views and a great instructor-Johnny! He is incredibly good at what he does, and a great character at the same time! He cracked jokes all way through and broke the ice by throwing snowballs at us whilst we were... More

Visited with all the family and was an enjoyable experience. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and tour was interesting and fun. Would be great if there was a bit more on mining today and not just the past. Well worth the visit.

Didn't visit the mines themselves but we stopped for a coffee and cake after cycling up Honister pass. The cafe is pretty basic but the view is great.
