A very disappointing visit to an idyllic location (although they are plentiful in the Lake District). Poor facilities, a narrow range of expensive snacks and drinks, extremely slow service and a stroppy and unhelpful manager. £20 an hour for a rowing boat is not cheap,...More

Our scones and cakes are superb - our choice of teas, coffees and soft drinks legendary. Our rowing boats priced in line with other boats on other meres in the Lake District. Opinions vary...

Guided by previous reviews, we foolishly discounted many other lovely refreshment options in Grasmere. We lived to regret this: a few hours of our precious holiday we'll not get back again! Yes, it's a really fantastic location BUT we were so, so disappointed by the...More

On a particularly busy day (which on the day of your visit it was...) we simply don't have the option of swapping over children in boats ad hoc. Another boat was available to enable all your party to enjoy boating at the same time but...More

I dont understand the bad reviews about this place. I was actually interested if the owner is so rude as some people say and wanted to meet him. Great guy! He explained everything about the lake and handling the boat and safety rules. The whole...More

We were passing this place after walking around the two lakes and we had almost reached the end of the journey at Grasmere. The sign saying that tea was served there was too much of a temptation. And what a selection of fascinating teas. We...More

Before heading around Grasmere you come across this little cafe. It has a beautiful setting with boats to hire if you fancy a little exercise. The barista was pleasant and the coffee ok. The view was worth the stay.

This was our final destination after a great day in Grasmere. Lovely afternoon tea with fresh scones clotted cream and jam. Very friendly people and nice China tea sets. A good pot of real tea with tea strainer!!! Everything was fabulous. Views were lovely and...More

A peaceful beauty spot and the coffee is brilliant. I have read in earlier reviews about people saying staff and signs were rude but it's just a small business trying to survive and I consider eating a picnic in a cafe ruder than signs that...More
