Nice little museum. Didn't know who John Ruskin was but visited to see the Donald Campbell artefacts and to learn more about the Bluebird story. £16 for a family of four so inexpensive. Nice to experience some local history. The museum is small and took us an hour to walk around and read everything. Quaint gift shop. We walked around... More

This friendly little museum has a whole host of interesting exhibits covering both John Ruskin and the Coniston area. I found all the Donald Campbell/Bluebird information fascinating and it will be quite spooky to see Bluebird K70 there when it is rebuilt. You can spend up to two hours looking round and then have tea at one of the nearby... More

A fascinating little museum, with so much about the local area: John Ruskin, the Victorian art expert, Donald Campbell, the record breaker and so much more about the village and its surroundings.

Visited over the festive period, very good value. Have visited before, wanted to learn more about the Halifax bomber that crashed on the Coniston hills during WWII after learning about it walking last year. There was a whole folder of information on this that was easy to find. The Bluebird Wing is a real gem, there is currently the sponson... More

This is such a pretty little find! My husband loved all the Donald Campbell and Blue Bird memorabilia and I loved the Swallows and Amazons room. There were exhibits from prehistoric lakeland through to slate and copper mining, the arts and craft movement and Ruskin artefacts. We loved it!

Visited during our honeymoon. Great look into local history, Bluebird and Ruskin. My husband is a mechanic/farmer so got totally absorbed by the bluebird section but also learning about the different ways of farming in the lake district. I (textiles student/farmer) thouroughly enjoyed the bits on the lace etc in the pull out wall, and some of the work by... More

Gem of information. John Ruskin - social reformer a man of his time. Wonderful display of Donald Campbell and the Bluebird.
