A lovely warm house with a good feel to it. Plenty of information about William Wordsworth's early life and interesting to talk with the knowledgeable volunteers. The exhibition on when we visited (9 May) is curated by Robert McFarlane with photos taken by his parents. Very interesting, with displays and postcards of fascinating local and dialect words from the British... More

Living locally and being NT members we often call in to Wordsworth and take friends who visit. Nice to go at different times of the year to see the changes in the garden. Staff are in period dress and are very knowledgeable

A most enjoyable visit. The staff were so knowldgeable about the building, it's contents and the links to Wordsworth. The gardens were a delight to visit. There is a walled vegetable and fruit garden planted with heritage varieties. The plants are labelled and dates recorded which makes the visit very informative. The small cafe is a delight to visit and... More

I spent a very pleasant hour here today - the audio guide is excellent and good value at just £1.50. It gives great colour to your visit. The house itself is excellently presented and the gardens are beautiful.

I have never visited this National Trust property and would recommend any Wordsworth fans to take a visit. The house is child friendly, has a tea room and shop. Parking is a pay car park across the river behind the property. £1 for three hours. You access the property via a foot bridge from the card park.

Right on the high street this is a fascinating old house where Wordsworth spent his childhood. Although a grand house in is time , this was a tied house due to Wordsworth fathers job as Agent where the owners entertained so perhaps the Wordsworth family did not enjoy the trappings of the whole house but certainly in his works he... This house has a really interesting story to tell of Wordsworth's early life - which I knew nothing of, despite being an English graduate! An idyllic childhood here, was interrupted by family deaths, and must have affected him and his sister, Dorothy. To learn this, it is best to attend the talk, which brings the house to life in a...
