Unlike most reviewers we went specifically to see the Kurt Schwitters. The exhibition was small but included some interesting works. The Beatrix Potter exhibition was a bonus and well worth a visit. Free disabled parking outside the front door was a bonus.

Went to see a Beatrix Potter Exhibition which was extremely interesting, and very well presented. Lovely soothing music played in the background added to the atmosphere, also fascinating very old books available to view in the upstairs library.

Kurt Schwitters' work reminds us of this amazing artist who lived locally and Beatrix Potter was an early supporter who gave personal material, including original watercolours and botanical sketches. And not forgetting the Armitt sisters without whom it wouldn't exist.

A very interesting museum for fans of Beatrix Potter, with lots of her beautiful paintings. As an added bonus there was a small exhibition of paintings by Kurt Schwitters.

We were recommended to visit this museum by a guide in the Beatrix Potter Gallery in Hawkshead. The museum is easy to find, and has a lot to read and information about Beatrix and her family. There are some lovely illustrations of her original work and items that were special to her. You get a real sense of her personality... More

One of the highlights of my trip to the Lake District. Fantastic museum that presents a faithful and substantial account of Beatrix Potter's life, including but much beyond her literary career. I wasn't aware of just how much else she achieved and it was fascinating (the account of her scientific career was really interesting). It also offers an interesting account... More

This is a lovely little museum largely dedicated to the memory of Beatrix Potter. We learned a great deal about her more than just the 'little books', she was a scientist, superb illustrator and a great benefactor for the area. The staff on the desk were very helpful and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.

Interesting and very well presented exhibition of the life of Beatrix Potter and associates. Fascinating illustrative material covering her many talents. The Library upstairs holds a wonderful collection of books from many private individuals and other treasures. Shop sold a large variety of second hand books and good choice of cards and local booklets.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit. It is very gratifying to the Trustees, staff and volunteers that more and more people are finding their way to our door and discovering, as you describe it, our 'Lakeland Treasure trove'. We look forward to you visiting again in the future. More
