Pick up another read for yourself or gifts to take home to friends and relatives. That's what we did. Sam's Book Shop has a lovely selection of fiction, non fiction, mystery, children's books, books by local authors and a wonderful selection of local field guides and walking guide books. The selection is surprising for the size of the shop. One... More

This little shop is lovingly stocked with a variety of Lakes Region inspired books - poetry, anthologies, fiction and history. Since the area was also frequented by Beatrix Potter, there is a large selection of books and gifts from the vast array of Potter subject matter. My hunt was for Wordsworth and my search was rewarded. While there is a... More

A little explore of the town with my mumzie on a rainy grey day in April and I fell upon this wonderland of a little book shop! I could have actually spent days in there, a proper treasure trove of wonderful books! The window has lots of offers to draw you in...which it really didn't need to try hard to... More

Sam Read's is an amazing little bookshop tucked away in Grasmere. The selection of books is absolutely brilliant, and the staff are just so friendly. I will certainly be making a beeline for the shop next time I'm in Grasmere!

It is really good to have a small bookshop available to browse before making a purchase. Good range of books including many about the Lake District.

To be honest, we ran in here as the heavens opened. I'm sure we won't have been the first, but what a great place to find ourselves! Ended up buying a book I have been waiting for.

Absolutely love it here. There is an amazing selection of fabulously chosen books. The owners are very welcoming. Browsing here is a delight and would move here just to visit the bookshop-it's a dreamworld.

A lovely shop selling a wide range of enticing and enjoyable books, from the newest best seller to classic walking guides to the Lake District. And if they don't have what you're looking for, they can usually order it for you. Postcards of Grasmere some beauty spots are also found only at Sam Reads. Worth a detour.
